The City of Ontario is located approximately 35 miles east of downtown Los Angeles, with direct access to the I-10, I-210, and I-15 freeways. The Deputy Finance Director position was created as a key leadership role to strengthen succession planning within the Financial Services Agency and provide high-level professional support to the Assistant Finance Director and the Executive Director of Finance. With an operating budget of $1.65 billion and a $2.88 billion 5-year capital improvement program, Ontario requires a Deputy Finance Director who balances technical expertise with strong interpersonal skills. A collaborative, team-oriented style that encourages partnership and trust, along with a customer service mindset, the ability to problem solve creatively, and adapt to changing priorities, are key to success in this role. Responsibilities
Serve as a key leadership role to strengthen succession planning within the Financial Services Agency and provide high-level professional support to the Assistant Finance Director and the Executive Director of Finance. Foster a collaborative, team-oriented environment that encourages partnership and trust, provides excellent customer service, and supports creative problem solving in a dynamic environment. Qualifications
Competitive candidates will offer at least seven years of increasingly responsible experience in accounting or finance, including four years in a managerial capacity in a governmental agency. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. Compensation and Application
