Purpose The Associate Director of IT Operations for University Housing and Dining (UHD) provides strategic and operational leadership across various high volume IT functions, including help desk support, server and application administration, and security systems. Ensures the delivery of reliable, secure, and user focused technology supporting UHD units and operations, including 24/7 residence halls and dining units. Leads a team of IT professionals, fosters innovation, and collaborates with stakeholders to align IT services with business needs. Responsibilities
Oversee the IT Help Desk for UHD, including desktop support for UHD employees (software installations, troubleshooting, authorizations) and management of UHD devices (desktops, peripherals, mobile devices, phones, and other hardware). Ensure support requests are tracked and documented via UHD Ticketing system and maintain high security standards. Develop and drive a services/support strategy to meet stakeholder needs and provide leadership in tool selection, implementation, and best practices. Oversee the Server and Applications Administration team for UHD, including physical and virtual servers and applications (Housing Software, Point of Sale Software, Virtual Desktop Software, Food Management Software). Ensure smooth operations while adhering to UT security standards. Anticipate internal client needs, propose solutions, and increase client satisfaction. Identify training resources for team members and customers. Manage and lead a team of IT professionals (IT Managers, System Administrators, and other support roles). Hire, train, evaluate staff, and promote a user-focused, professional environment. Maintain strong communication with staff and customers, prioritize multiple assignments, and perform related managerial duties. Collaborate with the IT Director on strategic planning and execution of department goals. Serve as backup to the IT Director in their absence and represent the department in meetings. Maintain understanding of the UHD IT portfolio to ensure continuity of operations and informed decision making. Administer UHD Door Access Control System and Video Management System; operate as camera control operator. Work with UHD Security Services to ensure system stability and reliability. Participate in UHD and UHD Business Services meetings, events, and training. Ensure 24-hour operations coverage, and perform additional duties as assigned. Required Qualifications
Associate's degree Five years of IT experience Three years in a leadership or management role directly leading IT professionals Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher Ten or more years of IT experience Five or more years in a leadership or management role Experience managing and/or overseeing an IT Help Desk Experience with physical and virtual servers and administering applications Experience providing IT support for FoodPro, StarRez, CSGold/Micros POS Experience administering Citrix Virtual Desktop software Professional work experience in higher education Driving
This job requires a class C operator’s driver's license. A current three-year driving record is required from the state of residence. If not a Texas resident, a Texas driver’s license must be obtained within 30 days of residency. CDL-holding employees are subject to drug and alcohol testing. Salary Range
$120,000+ depending on qualifications Working Conditions
