Overview
Senior Manager, Change Management & Operational Preparedness – are you passionate about leading changes that drive innovation, efficiency, and meaningful business impact? This opportunity is within our Retail Risk Office, supporting Retail Bank and Premium Products + Shopping business areas. In this highly visible and strategic role, you will be at the forefront of our change management program, helping to shape the way we work, deliver change initiatives to our business, and manage risk. You will lead change efforts that span functions, stakeholders and levels of the organization, playing a critical role in how we adopt change initiatives. Your expertise will help shape and deliver impactful change management solutions that support transformation across our organization. Responsibilities
Lead and manage a team of change and operational preparedness professionals, providing coaching, mentorship, and performance management Foster a culture of risk awareness and accountability within the team and across the first line of defense Ensure the team has the necessary skills and resources to effectively execute their responsibilities Develop and implement robust change management strategies that drive adoption, reduce resistance, mitigate risk and ensure long-term success Coach and guide cross-functional project teams and leaders through the change journey using proven methodologies and a thoughtful, people-first approach Collaborate closely with sponsors, stakeholders, and key partners to align goals and ensure successful execution of change initiatives Conduct change impact assessments, stakeholder analyses, and readiness assessments to inform planning and execution Design and deliver communications and enablement strategies that inform and prepare associates for change Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of change interventions and continuously refine the approach to maximize impact Champion a culture of adaptability and continuous improvement by embedding sustainable change capabilities across the business Key Skills/Experience
Proven success leading change management initiatives in large, complex organizations Deep understanding of change management principles, frameworks and tools (e.g., PROSCI) and their practical application Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, critical for building trust and influence across all levels Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Strong risk management analytical and problem-solving skills Collaborative leader who thrives on working with diverse groups to achieve shared goals Experience with prioritization frameworks, governance processes (e.g., EWI/DLI), audits & exams, executive & management reporting and project management support services Basic Qualifications
HS Diploma, GED or equivalent certification At least 5 years of Risk Management experience At least 4 years of change management experience At least 4 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal business clients Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree 5+ years of Project Management experience leading cross-functional projects and programs 5+ years of Change Management experience Certified in PROSCI Change Management, LEAN Management or Six Sigma 3+ years of people management experience PMP Certification or Masters Certificate of Project Management (CPM) At this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position. The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Salaries referenced are what Capital One is willing to pay at the time of posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based on hours worked. McLean, VA: $170,800 - $194,900 for Sr. Risk Manager. Richmond, VA: $155,300 - $177,200 for Sr. Risk Manager. Other locations follow respective pay ranges for those locations. This role is also eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives.
