The Research Support Specialist performs a variety of duties involved in the collection, compilation, and documentation of research data related to the assigned research studies. The incumbent also assists with the implementation of daily study activities and provides statistical support to these activities.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Researches, collects, analyzes, and synthesizes data and maintains databases.

2. Conducts quality assurance checks, reports on the status of research activities, and submits monthly

activity logs for protocol.

3. Organizes and coordinates community working group meetings for protocol activities.

4. Serves as primary point of contact for community partners and supervises and oversees research data

collection at protocol venues in the community.

5. Reviews study progress, identifies areas of opportunity, and recommends solutions.

6. Prepares and updates study research procedures manual.

7. Assists with the preparation of grant proposals by processing regulatory documents for all institutions and offices involved.

8. Contributes to the publication and presentation of significant results and writes and edits material for publication and presentation.

9. Maintains research files and responds to phone calls on the research study phone line.

Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field required

Experience:

Minimum 2 years of relevant experience

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

• Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.

• Ability to understand and follow instructions.# **Department Specific Functions**The Research Support Specialist will provide professional level support and coordination for research and administrative related activities. The incumbent will implement day-to-day tasks related to research protocols and office support to facilitate the efficient operations of BCSR. • Establishes patient/participant screening procedures with Principal Investigator and collects data from patient charts, medical records, interviews, questionnaires, diagnostic tests and other sources. • Organizes and handles the flow of information to and from study participants, including study participant contact information. • Establishes/maintains contact with patient/participants, health care providers, community agencies and study sponsors. • Schedules appointments and updates calendars. • Maintains logs/progress reports to track enrolled participants. • Maintains and manages databases; enters data appropriately. Ensures data integrity and consistency in computer database and written records. Maintains consent forms, all other documentations and sponsor correspondences. • Prepares monthly enrollment reports. • Plans meetings and takes detailed minutes, as needed. • Responsible for ordering and maintaining stock of necessary supplies for projects and office. • Assists in any administrative related activities including time accounting and billing in a timely and accurate manner. • Performs other duties as assigned. • Excellent English skills (both oral and written) required.
