Systems Safety Engineer - Fleet Risk Management

Enterprise Safety's mission is to establish a safety engineering core function across the company and develop enduring product safety design practices to assure safety, quality, integrity, and mission success of our products and services. This position supports development of systematic and comprehensive fleet risk management; i.e., in-service safety analysis processes, training, procedures and tools across the Enterprise consistent with Boeing's Safety Management System (SMS), FAA COSP, and MIL-STD-882.
This role is a core member of a fast-paced, distributed safety team. Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to resolve cross-functional technical issues are required.
Position Responsibilities
Perform systematic and comprehensive assessment of in-service safety and accident/incident processes and ensure consistency with SMS requirements, COSP, and MIL-STD-882 guidance
Develop in-service safety Design Practices (DP), Business Process Instructions (BPI), and other command media for use across BCA, BDS, and BGS, including sustaining and supporting development of in-service safety analysis processes
Collaborate across the enterprise to understand stakeholder needs and align opportunities to the Enterprise Safety Vision and Mission
Support enhancement of root cause analysis methods, COSP and SMS projects
Improve processes enabling a robust feedback loop of safety lessons learned into future product design
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and support development of safety assurance data analytics
Support preparation of presentations to Safety Technical Boards and Governance forums
Participate in and potentially lead Agile scrum teams
Basic Qualifications (Required)
Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
5+ years related work experience
2+ years of experience in aviation systems safety engineering
Ability to travel up to 25%
Preferred Qualifications (Desired)
Senior: 10+ years related work experience or equivalent combination
5+ years of experience in airplane systems safety processes, systems and/or tools
Experience with FAA COSP and MIL-STD-882E guidance
Experience performing hazard analyses across the full product life cycle
Experience with Safety Management System (SMS) in design and manufacturing
Experience working in an Agile environment

Pay and Benefits Summary Pay Range (Mid-Level): $104,550 - $141,450
Summary Pay Range (Senior): $128,350 - $173,650
