Description Northrop Grumman is pursuing a Test Engineer Level 2/3 focused on rotating machinery within the Systems Integration and Test group. The role involves working on propulsion and power generation equipment for submarines and aircraft carriers, supporting digital transformation through Model-based Engineering, DevSecOps, and Agile practices. The successful candidate will be collaborative, open, and committed to continuous learning and automation.

What You’ll Do In this role, you will have the opportunity to accomplish system-level tests of turbine-generators and gear-driven propulsion units—from integrating data-acquisition systems and programming automation routines to acquiring and analyzing data, controlling test conduct, and writing procedures and reports. The testing schedule requires 12.5 hour shifts to support 24/7 campaigns, with night shift support 30-70% of the time. The workload may span two to three months. Basic Qualifications For Level 2

Bachelor's Degree in STEM with 2 years of relevant work experience; or Master’s Degree in STEM with no relevant experience.

Experience using benchtop instrumentation (e.g., spectrum analyzers and digital multimeters).

Ability to interpret basic circuit diagrams.

Willingness to work night shift 30-70% of the time.

Willingness to work at field sites as needed.

US Citizenship required.

Must have an active Secret Clearance.

Basic Qualifications For Level 3

Bachelor’s Degree in STEM with 5 years relevant work experience; or Master’s Degree in STEM with 3 years relevant work experience.

Experience using benchtop instrumentation (e.g., spectrum analyzers and digital multimeters).

Ability to interpret basic circuit diagrams.

Willingness to work night shift 30-70% of the time.

Willingness to work at field sites as needed.

US Citizenship required.

Must have an active Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering; related industry experience in testing and troubleshooting.

Experience troubleshooting analog or high-voltage circuitry.

Programming and/or automation experience (e.g., MATLAB, Python, C/C++, C#, LabVIEW).

PLC programming experience (e.g., Allen Bradley).

Experience testing rotating machinery; acoustics, dynamics, or control-systems testing.

Experience using multi-channel data acquisition (DAQ) systems and testing large structures.

Systems engineering experience and Navy experience.

Salary and Benefits Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00. Salary Range 2: $110,300.00 - $165,500.00. The above ranges are general guidelines; base salary depends on scope, responsibilities, experience, education, and market conditions. Eligible for overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses where applicable. Benefits include health insurance, life and disability insurance, a savings plan, holidays, and paid time off.
