Role Summary
The Director of Production will oversee all aspects of AFLALO’s production pipeline across raw goods purchasing, trims, domestic ateliers, and overseas partners. This leader will be accountable for maintaining uncompromising standards of quality and fit, while ensuring collections are delivered on time and on budget. Key Responsibilities
Lead raw materials and trim purchasing & inventory tracking, negotiating with global mills and suppliers Manage domestic & atelier production in partnership with our studio team; oversee overseas vendors for import production Source, vet, and maintain relationships with high-quality factories globally (tailoring, knitwear, fine wovens, sweaters) Ensure alignment between design intent and commercial goals, with craftsmanship as a non-negotiable Build and manage seasonal production calendars, WIPs, and vendor scorecards Oversee cost engineering, margins, and vendor negotiations without compromising quality Partner with design and product development to problem-solve technical challenges Manage and mentor a small NYC-based team, including coordinators / factory liaisons Implement and refine production systems, tools, and reporting for efficiency and scalability Oversee global logistics of raw materials and finished goods, including freight booking, customs clearance, duty/tariff analysis Qualifications
8–12+ years production leadership in luxury or designer womenswear Deep expertise across both domestic and import production Proven ability to source, negotiate, and manage premium factories (NYC, LA, Italy, Asia) Hands-on understanding of garment construction, fit, finishing, and artisanal quality Experience balancing creative/design intent with margin and commercial targets Team management experience—coaching, delegating, and building high-functioning teams Highly organized, solutions-driven, thrives in fast-paced environments Passion for luxury craftsmanship and building modern American production culture Seniority level
