Description This is a required on-site position in the Defense Systems (DS) location in Colorado Springs, Colorado or Roy, Utah, and is part of the Sentinel Program's Command and Control (C2) Hardware Engineering team. Responsibilities
Incorporates edits and redlines to existing designs Facilitates ingest of supplier drawings into the Sentinel program tool set and workflow Develops basic data and makes preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposals Investigates design factors such as ease of manufacture, material availability, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-weight efficiency, contractual specification requirements and cost; coordinates with other organizations affected by design development Makes layouts of complex assemblies and details parts of devices, mechanisms, and structures; checks layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations Identifies design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies; recommends revisions and/or improvements in design layout to responsible engineers or designers Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and 5 years of experience; or Master's degree with 3 years of experience; PhD with 1 year of experience Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP) Experience performing CAD modeling with design tools such as Siemens NX (or similar) Experience with Siemens Teamcenter PLM tool suite (or similar) Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word) Experience working with COTS hardware and suppliers and ability to interpret supplier specifications to influence product selection for weapon system design Ability to understand and interpret requirements and architecture diagrams Preferred Qualifications
Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment and adapt to changing directions Excellent interpersonal, written communication, and presentation skills, including the ability to clearly communicate complex concepts Experience analyzing and generating electronics-based system requirements and architectures to inform hardware design engineering, primarily with commercially sourced devices Experience as responsible engineer or design lead for electronic hardware products during development Experience in supplier collaboration to refine hardware design for weapon system needs Proficient in 3D modeling in Siemens NX and in generating/releasing engineering artifacts in Siemens Teamcenter Unified PLM Knowledge of ASME Y14 standards Familiarity with CAMEO for system architecture analysis Familiarity with IBM Rational DOORS for requirement development and review Salary and Benefits
Primary Level Salary Range: $86,600.00 - $136,800.00 The salary range represents a general guideline; Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers, including scope, responsibilities, candidate experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus. Long Term Incentives may apply to VP/Director roles.
