Lawelawe Management Group is seeking an accomplished HR Director to oversee the smooth and profitable operation of the human resources function. As a senior leader, you will provide strategic direction on staffing, workforce development, benefits, compensation, training, and employee relations while ensuring compliance with employment laws and organizational policies. This role requires a strong balance of visionary leadership and hands-on execution to build a people-first culture that supports growth and operational excellence. This is a consulting opportunity. Work is structured around specific client projects, with assignments that may range from short-term surge support to longer-term initiatives, depending on client requirements and needs.
What You’ll Do As HR Director, you will set the vision for HR strategy while ensuring day-to-day HR operations run effectively across the organization. You will partner with senior leadership to align HR strategies with corporate goals, lead HR teams through initiatives that strengthen workforce planning, and implement policies and programs that balance employee needs with business objectives. You will play a central role in talent acquisition and retention, guiding recruitment and onboarding while shaping succession planning and career development pathways.
In addition, you will oversee employee relations, including the negotiation of union contracts, resolution of grievances, and the design of engagement programs that foster a healthy workplace culture. Your leadership will extend to risk management by ensuring compliance with workplace safety standards, maintaining inspection and accident records, and developing initiatives that protect the health and well-being of employees. You will also manage compensation and benefits programs, working closely with finance to balance competitive offerings with financial sustainability, all while ensuring adherence to employment law and corporate policies.
Key Focus Areas
Develop and implement HR strategies that align with organizational goals
Lead HR teams and provide guidance on policies, programs, and compliance
Oversee talent acquisition, onboarding, and workforce planning initiatives
Direct employee relations, engagement, and union/labor negotiations
Ensure compliance with employment law, safety regulations, and organizational standards
Manage risk by overseeing inspections, workplace safety programs, and recordkeeping
Oversee compensation and benefits programs, balancing workforce needs with budget constraints
Report to senior leadership on HR metrics, compliance updates, and workforce trends
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
Master’s degree and HR certifications (SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP, PHR/SPHR) preferred
Extensive HR leadership experience, including at least several years in a Director-level or senior HR leadership role
Demonstrated success leading HR strategy, workforce planning, and organizational development
Strong background in employee relations, labor relations, compensation, benefits, and compliance
Proven ability to manage HR teams and oversee multi-functional HR operations
Deep knowledge of employment law and HR compliance requirements
Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels
Effective communicator with experience presenting to senior executives and boards
Organized, detail-driven, and able to manage complex priorities with discretion
US Citizenship required
