Food Access Coordinator VISTA at Truro Community Kitchen
Truro Community Kitchen (TCK) is a nonprofit whose governing ethic is "by the community, for the community." TCK is a volunteer-driven organization on Cape Cod dedicated to providing free nourishing meals, with no questions asked to residents facing food insecurity or isolation. Since its founding in 2020, TCK has delivered over 85,000 meals, serving as a trusted lifeline for people facing poverty including seniors, families, and individuals in the town of Truro, MA. TCK's mission is rooted in volunteerism, dignity, neighborly care, and community connection. Based in Truro, Massachusetts-a rural town of 2,000 with limited access to services, TCK is proud to boost public health services by serving roughly 10% of the population, many living in poverty, with a nutritious meal each week. The Community Engagement VISTA will play a key role in expanding TCK's reach and establishing long-term sustainability. The VISTA will build TCK's capacity by strengthening relationships with local governments, schools, health providers, and other nonprofits; improving community outreach and visibility; and identifying unmet needs across the Outer Cape. The VISTA will also support TCK's goal of securing a permanent cooking space and advancing strategic partnerships to reduce food waste and improve access. This is a hands-on opportunity to make a lasting impact while gaining skills in nonprofit development, strategic planning, and food justice. You'll be part of a welcoming team of volunteers and local leaders, all working together to ensure that no one in the community goes hungry or feels alone. Ideal candidates are thoughtful communicators, community-minded, and excited to collaborate across diverse populations.
