St Luke's Health - Memorial - Lufkin Lufkin, Texas The lead surgical technologist, under the direct supervision of the direction of the Perioperative Services Director, accepts overall responsibility for a designated surgical area of specialty. The lead tech is responsible for assuring all equipment and instruments are operational. Ensures adequacy and organization of equipment, supplies and instruments. Assist surgical team in the scrubbing role according CHI St. Luke's policies and procedures. Maintain sterile field. Report immediately any breaks in aseptic technique. Pass instruments, suture products, medication, and sponge materials to surgeon. Assist with retracting of tissue and organs, and suctioning by holding the retracting. Perform surgical counts with the RN according to policy and procedure. Proficiently function in the scrub role for all services provided. Function as a resource for at least one specific service. Utilize/open supplies judiciously, offers suggestions, improvements with focus on quality and cost containment. Work closely with the instrument room as service specialist/instrument liaison to assure provision of quality. Assist in housekeeping duties as directed to insure safe patient environment and an efficient room turnover. HS/GED Graduate of an accredited educational program for surgical technologists Certified Surgical Technician (CST) or Tech in Surgery Certified (TS-C) or must qualify for grandfathering under Department of State Health Services-Health and Safety Code Title 4 Subtitle B Chapter 259 BLS through AHA Minimum of 5 years of recent clinical experience as a certified professional and competency in designated specialties OR 3 years of recent clinical experience as a certified professional AND completion of an accredited educational program for surgical technologists We are offering a $10,000 Sign On Bonus to new hires that meet the eligibility requirements.
