Job Description And Duties
The salary ranges listed in this Job Control may not reflect reductions in pay in accordance with the 2025 Personal Leave Program. If you are passionate about cybersecurity and IT savvy, this is the job for you! We are looking for a self-motivated individual who enjoys administration, troubleshooting, and customer support of our Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) system.
Responsibilities include researching, developing, automating, implementing, and maintaining processes to alert and report on unauthorized or inappropriate activities in FTB systems and network. The protection of taxpayer information and privacy is the key foundational principle supporting FTB's mission.
About The PSDB Security Operations Section (SOS)
Our mission is to provide support and oversight to departmental projects, task forces, and initiatives to ensure compliance with Information Security Policies, to collaborate with various areas of FTB to help ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our information security systems and data is monitored and protected.

Pay Range: $6,513.00 - $8,729.00 A, $7,163.00 - $9,599.00 B, $7,864.00 - $10,537.00 C
Desirable Qualifications
- Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to learn and embrace new technologies
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, take initiative, and complete tasks and assignments
- Collaborate and work with internal and external stakeholders
- Develop and maintain operational procedures and guidelines
- Experience using and supporting a Security Information Event Management (SIEM) tool
- Perform research to solve complex problems and to troubleshoot production issues
- Excellent customer service skills
- Experience developing and implementing alerts, dashboards, and metrics in a SIEM system such as Splunk, etc
- Knowledge or experience configuring, managing, and administrating a SIEM tool
- Experience in developing and supporting data models to uncover new insights
- Experience in security data analytics
- Experience developing scripts or applications to automate processes
- Experience in a CyberSecurity/Information Security role, such as: security event and log analysis, security data analysis and modeling, security incident response, etc.
- Knowledge of FTB systems, infrastructure, and IT processes or procedures or something similar
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field of study
