Precision Aerospace Welding & Tooling Fabrication Specialist

Join Smith Bros Tool as a Precision Aerospace Welding & Tooling Fabrication Specialist.

We are a full-capability machining, weld-fabrication, and tooling organization with in-house design, engineering, build, and certification, delivering assembly tools, lay-up tools, checking tools, and mill fixtures for Aerospace, Defense, and Automotive programs.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on ownership of complex aerospace tooling builds
• Work with steel, aluminum, and Invar to tight geometric tolerances
• Apply AWS codes (D1.1, D1.2, D17.1) in a production environment
• Contribute in a process-driven shop aligned to ISO 9001 and AS91000 standards

Your Impact

• Prepare, fit, and weld materials into precision tooling and fixtures
• Fabricate directly from blueprints and job travelers
• Select the appropriate welding method and perform set-ups for production
• Grind, prep, and finish for accurate fit-up and dimensional compliance
• Measure with tape and other devices to verify accuracy
• Support the team with additional duties as assigned

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years' Welder/Fabricator experience in Aerospace
• Proficiency with geometric dimensioning/tolerancing concepts
• Demonstrated capability with AWS D1.1, D1.2, and D17.1 for aircraft tooling
• Blueprint literacy; solid math plus clear written and verbal communication
• Strong organization, follow-through, and schedule awareness
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 and AS91000 is preferred
• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Job Type: Full-time
• Pay: $18.00 – $25.00 per hour
• Shift: Day shift
• Work Location: In person
