Position Overview
We are seeking a Quality Engineering Manager who is, first and foremost, an engineer — someone who thrives on solving complex manufacturing challenges, improving processes, and applying data-driven thinking to quality.
This role blends hands-on engineering with strategic leadership. You’ll lead a team of engineers and inspectors, collaborate across production and design teams, and drive initiatives that enhance dimensional control, reduce variation, and strengthen first-pass yield across the forge, spin, and machine shop departments.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and develop a cross-functional quality engineering and inspection team focused on precision and problem-solving
Act as a technical liaison between engineering, production, and quality, ensuring manufacturability and tolerance integrity from design through production
Oversee dimensional inspection processes using CMMs, scanners, and precision tools
Implement and expand the use of 3D scanning and analysis software (PolyWorks) for dimensional validation and root cause analysis
Drive continuous improvement initiatives using SPC data, process capability, and structured corrective actions (CAPA)
Lead MRB and RCCA activities, integrating engineering and production insights to eliminate recurring issues
Maintain ISO 9001 compliance with a focus on process performance and improvement
Partner with manufacturing engineers to improve tooling, setup methods, and repeatability
Track and report key metrics such as first-pass yield, capability indices, and scrap reduction
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (preferred) or equivalent technical experience
7+ years of engineering-based experience in metal manufacturing, aerospace, or precision machining
3–5+ years of leadership experience managing engineers or inspectors
Strong understanding of GD&T, blueprints, and dimensional control principles
Skilled in CMM operation, laser scanning, and 3D analysis software (PolyWorks preferred)
Hands-on knowledge of machining, forging, and forming processes
Proven ability to lead root cause investigations and implement effective solutions
Excellent communication, leadership, and documentation skills
