We are looking for you to join our team as a Principal Cyber Systems Engineer or Sr. Principal Cyber Systems Engineer based out of Annapolis, MD. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing secure systems to protect our organization from cyber threats.
This position is 100% onsite, and preferred to be located in Annapolis, MD. Additional locations include: Melbourne, FL, Huntsville, AL, Sunnyvale, CA, or Ocean Springs, MS.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and implement cyber security solutions to safeguard the organization's systems and data. Conduct threat modeling, security assessments, penetration testing, and vulnerability scans to identify and mitigate cyber threats. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security best practices into all systems and applications. Stay up to date on the latest cyber security trends and technologies to proactively mitigate risks. Define, decompose, and ensure the integration of cybersecurity throughout the system development lifecycle. Apply Zero Trust, Multi-Level Security (MLS), and other advanced security principles. Provide expert guidance and training to junior team members and other departments on cyber security best practices. Able to work independently without supervision and meet quick deployment deadlines ensuring the solutions meet the customer’s product requirements. Occasional local and domestic travel for program-related meetings with external contractors/offices. Basic Qualifications for a Principal Cyber Systems Engineer:
Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of related experience, a master’s degree with 3 years of related experience, or a PhD with one year of related experience, OR 9+ years of experience architecting, implementing, and securing complex, cyber-resilient systems in regulated or mission-critical environments in lieu of a college degree. U.S Citizen with ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance with SCI. Must possess a current DoD 8140 (DoD 8570) Certification for IAT Level II or higher prior to start date or demonstrate the ability to obtain this certification within one year of hiring (example: Security+ CE). Experience with vulnerability remediation. Experience with the Data Collection and Indexing tool Splunk. Experience with Agile development. Basic Qualifications for a Senior Principal Cyber Systems Engineer:
Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of related experience, a master’s degree with 6 years of related experience, or a PhD with 4 years of related experience, OR 12+ years of experience architecting, implementing, and securing complex, cyber-resilient systems in regulated or mission-critical environments in lieu of a college degree. U.S Citizen with ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance with SCI. Must possess a current DoD 8140 (DoD 8570) Certification for IAT Level II or higher prior to start date or demonstrate the ability to obtain this certification within one year of hiring (example: Security+ CE). Experience with vulnerability remediation. Experience with the Data Collection and Indexing tool Splunk. Experience with Agile development. Preferred Qualifications for both levels:
Experience in CMMC Certifications and NIST 800-171. Knowledge with NIST 800-160. Understanding of the Systems Engineering V Model. Active Top Secret security clearance at time of application. Experience with Department of Defense (DoD) System Security Engineering activities. Knowledge of Risk Management Framework (RMF), Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG), and requirements development from control listings. Proficiency in network security protocols, software development, and system architecture design. Experience with cloud computing platforms that provide a set of software tools for building and managing private and public clouds (e.g., OpenStack). Experience working with Linux computing systems. Experience working with Microsoft computing systems. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interface with employees and management at all levels. Experience in executing vulnerability scans and developing and maintaining security documentation, including ISSPs, and POA&Ms. Experience with anti-malware, intrusion prevention security software (e.g., Symantec Endpoint Protection). Ability to provide detailed instruction, demos, and training to individuals and groups. Capable of assessing the Program's system security posture in compliance with customer requirements and directives.
