Overview

PayPal is seeking a highly skilled Legal Operations Technology Manager to drive automation and AI strategic integration and deployment of technology solutions across case management, e-billing, and matter management. The ideal candidate will optimize and automate critical legal workflows, enhancing efficiency, reducing costs, and improving overall effectiveness of the legal department. Key Responsibilities

Lead the design and implementation of automation and AI solutions for case and matter management processes, streamline workflows and fast track legal matters from initiation to resolution. Collaborate with legal teams to enable AI tools for case management support, risk analysis, summarization, drafting, document review and reporting to expedite case resolution and improve outcomes. Work with external vendors to assess, select, and implement third-party AI and automation solutions. Lead the full lifecycle of automation projects, including identifying needs, gathering requirements, managing implementations, and driving post-deployment adoption. Manage the implementation and optimization of the e-billing systems to automate invoice processing, approval workflows, and compliance checks. Integrate AI technology to identify billing anomalies, automate billing approvals, and improve accuracy of vendor invoices. Work closely with finance and legal teams to ensure alignment of billing structures, cost controls, and adherence to legal budget forecasts. Ensure seamless integration of matter management system with other core legal systems. Collaborate with legal, cross-functional and IT teams to identify and align automation and AI projects with broader business objectives and legal priorities. Provide thought leadership on the future of legal technology, particularly automation and AI, and guide legal teams in embracing these innovations. Track key performance metrics such as cycle times, cost savings and user adoption rates, to ensure continuous improvement. Lead change management initiatives to ensure smooth adoption of new tools and processes across the legal department. Create and execute communication plans and user training to inform and support stakeholders of new technology implementations, enhancements, and process changes. Qualifications

5+ years of experience in legal operations, legal technology with focus on automation and AI, and the use of technology in case management, e-billing and matter management. Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) with a focus in Business preferred. Strong analytical, problem solving, project management and communication skills. Ability to work with cross-functional teams, leading large-scale projects/programs, preferably in a Legal department or firm. Strong technical skills; proficient in all Microsoft Office applications. Ability to balance technical and business considerations in the development of AI and automation solutions. Strong understanding and hands-on experience implementing AI-driven technologies within a legal department. Deep understanding of AI tools used in the legal industry (e.g., AI-powered legal research, document review, risk assessment). Ability to identify and solve complex problems using technology and automation. Strong interest in innovation and driving continuous improvement in legal through automation and AI. PayPal is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Actual compensation is based on factors including location, skills and experience. The total compensation may include an annual performance bonus (or other incentive compensation, as applicable), equity, and medical, dental, vision, and other benefits. For more information, visit the PayPal benefits site. The U.S. national annual pay range for this role is $111,500 to $191,950.
