About the Role:

The Union Janitor plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment at the Chelsea Proving Grounds facility. This position ensures that all designated areas are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized according to union standards and organizational policies. The janitor will contribute to the overall health and safety of employees and visitors by managing waste disposal, performing routine maintenance tasks, and promptly addressing any cleanliness issues. Working collaboratively with the facilities management team, the janitor supports operational efficiency by ensuring that all cleaning supplies and equipment are properly maintained and stocked. Ultimately, this role is essential in upholding the professional image and functionality of the Consumer Support Services environment.

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in janitorial or custodial work preferred but not required. Ability to follow detailed instructions and safety protocols. Physical capability to perform manual labor including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. Willingness to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, or weekends as needed. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in a unionized environment. Familiarity with commercial cleaning equipment and chemicals. Basic knowledge of workplace health and safety standards. Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and supervisors. Certification in OSHA or other relevant safety training. Responsibilities:

Perform daily cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and trash removal in offices, restrooms, hallways, and common areas. Sanitize high-touch surfaces and restrooms to meet health and safety standards. Operate and maintain cleaning equipment and tools in a safe and efficient manner. Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the facilities management team promptly. Ensure cleaning supplies are adequately stocked and notify supervisors when reordering is necessary. Adhere to all union guidelines and workplace safety regulations while performing duties. Collaborate with team members to complete special cleaning projects or deep cleaning as scheduled.
