Precision Metal Products, Inc.
Position Summary
The Master Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing the master production schedule to ensure alignment with customer demand, capacity, and material availability. This role plays a critical part in ensuring on-time delivery, efficient resource utilization, and adherence to aerospace industry quality and regulatory requirements. The Master Scheduler serves as the central liaison between Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, and Program Management to balance customer priorities with manufacturing capabilities.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities Master Scheduling & Planning
Develop, maintain, and execute the weekly/monthly master production schedule (MPS), translating the consensus SIOP plan into a detailed production schedule. Lead and participate in the monthly SIOP (or IBP - Integrated Business Planning) process, ensuring alignment between demand, supply, and business objectives. Analyze production capacity and resource constraints, performing rough-cut capacity planning (RCCP) to ensure the schedule is feasible. Translate customer forecasts, sales orders, and contract requirements into executable production plans. Identify, assess, and mitigate risks and issues impacting the production schedule, developing proactive solutions. Manage schedule adherence, proactively identifying risks and implementing recovery actions. Responsible for contract review. Manage Inventory targets, ensuring adequate material support for production while minimizing inventory investment. Working with materials and finance addressing excess and obsolete.
Cross-Functional Coordination
Partner with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure schedule feasibility and alignment with available capacity and resources. Collaborate with Procurement and Materials teams to ensure timely availability of raw materials, aerospace-grade forgings, CNC capacity, and special processes. Communicate schedule changes, risks, and priorities to stakeholders.
Aerospace & Compliance Requirements
Ensure schedules comply with aerospace quality standards (AS9100, NADCAP, FAA, DoD requirements). Maintain scheduling documentation to support audits and customer requirements. Support program managers with earned value management (EVM) and customer reporting.
Continuous Improvement
Analyze production performance against the MPS, identifying gaps and recommending corrective actions. Drive process improvements in scheduling tools, data integrity, and planning accuracy. Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance planning processes, optimize operational efficiency, and reduce lead times.
Physical Requirements
Flexible and long hours sometimes required. Physically medium duty work required. Requires standing continuously and walking and sitting occasionally throughout the day. Able to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 25 pounds frequently. Experience and Education Required
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field (preferred). 5+ years of experience in production planning or scheduling, preferably in aerospace or precision manufacturing.
