Job Title: CT Technologist Profession: Tech Specialty: CT Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 10-hour day shift Hours per Shift: Mon-Thurs - 8:30 AM to 7:00 PM Experience: 1 year License: RT(R) (CT), ARRT (CT), ARRT(N), ARRT(T), or CNMT registry or state CT registry ARRT (R) with CT training Certifications: BLS (AHA) Required Must-Have: One year of related experience. Description: Provide quality patient care to all patients within the medical imaging department. Perform high-quality images and exams on patients while maintaining sensitivity to patient needs. Follow standards of safe radiation practice. Demonstrate leadership abilities and serve as a role model for other technologists. Act as a clinical resource to unit personnel and assure current standards of practice. Perform diagnostic imaging procedures while providing safety for self, patients, and others. Practice all rules and regulations pertaining to radiation safety, reducing exposure to as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA). Produce quality images in a complete, accurate, and timely manner. Prepare patients for exams. Provide information and instruction to patients and/or family regarding the procedure and respond to their physical and emotional needs. Assist patients during exams and position them appropriately. Observe patients and equipment during procedures and report/document unusual occurrences and record patient conditions. Facilitate smooth patient flow, scheduling, and optimal use of equipment/resources. Communicate in writing and verbally with physicians, imaging personnel, students, and staff in facilitating the continuum of care. Assist with patient transport as needed. Perform IV starts and contrast administration as required. As assigned by management, perform duties of other registered modalities. Be able to provide on-call coverage outside of standard scheduled hours per department policy. Correctly input charges and required data for procedures and supplies utilized during the exam. Complete required hospital/medical imaging paperwork for each exam performed. Prepare room, equipment, and exam materials needed for exams. Maintain technical operation of equipment and notify service when necessary. Notify supervisor of equipment problems and log the service call/problem per department procedure. Maintain a clean work area for employees and patients. Maintain quality checks and equipment maintenance documentation per department procedure. Be proactive in problem identification and follow up with appropriate management personnel. Establish a motivating, constructive rapport with physicians, staff, and departments. Maintain a high skill level through ongoing education and meeting attendance, and share information with staff. Participate in clinical training for students and/or staff technologists. Engage in professional activities through involvement in organizations, journal clubs, online education, etc. Actively participate in quality and process improvement initiatives. Maintain compliance with all state, federal, accreditation, and hospital regulations and standards. Contribute to relevant accreditation processes as requested. Demonstrate effective time management and proactively prioritize workload to meet productivity requirements. Adapt to rapidly changing technologies, policies, regulations, census, and staffing through priority setting and flexibility.
