Job Title: CT Technologist Profession: Tech Specialty: CT Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Variable - Combination Nights/Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: State Radiology Technologist License Certifications: RT(R) (CT), BLS (AHA) required Must-Have: - ARRT (CT), ARRT(N), ARRT(T), or CNMT registry required or State CT registry ARRT(R) with CT training - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association Description: Provide quality patient care to all patients within the medical imaging department. Perform high-quality images and exams on patients while maintaining sensitivity to patient needs. Follow standards of safe radiation practice. Demonstrate leadership abilities and act as a role model for other associate technologists. Act as a clinical resource to unit personnel and assure current standards of practice for the unit. Perform diagnostic imaging procedures, ensuring safety for self, patients, and all others. Practice all rules and regulations pertaining to radiation safety, reducing personal and patient exposure to as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA). Produce quality images in a complete, accurate, and timely manner. Prepare patients for exams. Provide information and instruction to patients and/or families regarding the procedure and respond to their physical and emotional needs. Assist patients during exams and position them correctly. Observe patients and equipment during the procedure and report/document unusual occurrences and record patients' conditions. Facilitate smooth patient flow, scheduling, and optimal use of equipment/resources. Communicate in writing and verbally with all physicians, imaging personnel, students, and hospital staff to facilitate the continuum of care. Assist with patient transport as needed. Perform IV starts and contrast administration as required. As assigned by management, perform technologist duties of other registered modalities. Be available for on-call coverage outside of standard scheduled hours as per department policy. Correctly input charges and required data for procedures and for supplies utilized during the exam. Complete required hospital/medical imaging paperwork for each exam performed. Prepare room, equipment, and exam materials needed for the exam. Maintain technical operation of equipment and notify service when necessary. Notify supervisors of equipment problems and log service calls/problems per department procedure. Maintain a clean work area for employees and patients. Conduct quality checks and equipment maintenance documentation per department procedure. Be proactive in problem identification and following up with the appropriate management personnel. Establish a motivating and constructive rapport with colleagues and departments. Maintain high skill levels through ongoing education and meeting attendance, sharing information with staff. Participate in clinical training for students and/or staff technologists. Engage in professional activities through involvement in organizations, journal clubs, and online education. Actively participate in department/hospital quality and process improvement initiatives. Maintain compliance with all state, federal, accreditation, and hospital regulations and standards. Contribute to accreditation requests as needed. Demonstrate effective time management and be proactive in prioritizing workload and meeting productivity requirements. Adapt to rapidly changing technologies, policies, regulations, census, and staffing through priority setting and flexibility.
