Hunter PetCare has an opportunity for a Veterinary Receptionist to join our team!

We are a three-doctor practice providing the highest level of veterinary medicine along with friendly, compassionate service. Location: 3830 State Route 122, Franklin, OH 045005
Shift Details: This is a full-time position (30+ hours/week). The schedule is all day Monday and Friday, 2 afternoon shifts (1-6) and every other Saturday. This will be the low end of full-time hours with the possibility of more.
Pay Range: $16.00 - $18.00/hour (based on experience)

Job Summary
The Receptionist is the first and last contact a client will have with the hospital and is key to creating first and lasting impressions. The Receptionist must have exceptional client service and communication skills, be computer literate, handle payment and financial issues, multi-task, maintain a friendly attitude, and stay confident in stressful situations. The Receptionist will support veterinarians, technicians, veterinary assistants, groomers, and kennel staff in daily patient and client care.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and uphold the Core Values and Mission Statement of MPH.
- Greet clients and pets by name with a smile and a positive, solution-oriented attitude.
- Answer phones promptly and professionally using a multi-line phone system; respond to inquiries about basic animal care and routine procedures, veterinary services and products, and provide knowledgeable advice about wellness, prevention, and diseases.
- Screen and route calls to appropriate staff; take and deliver messages promptly, pull medical records as needed for staff documentation.
- Schedule appointments and surgeries according to hospital guidelines; make confirmation calls.
- Note details of client conversations in medical records with date, time, key points, and required information.
- Enter accurate charges; explain invoices, echo doctors’ recommendations at checkout, and review services and products provided.
- Collect payments, process credit cards, and verify IDs for checks.
- Verify eligibility of clients with charge accounts.
- Check and update client addresses, phone numbers, and emails; scan new documents to patient records.
- Fill prescriptions and provide routine administration instructions to clients.
- Advise clients on flea/tick preventatives, heartworm preventatives, pre-anesthetic testing, pain management, shampoos, home dental products, and other retail items.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated commitment to MPH core values.
- Computer knowledge required—keyboarding and use of email/internet.
- Working knowledge of veterinary terminology; ability to pronounce, spell, and know meanings.
- Excellent spelling and grammar.
- Ability to handle varied and sometimes difficult conditions; exposure to highly emotional situations.
- Ability to display tact and respect with clients and team members, even when busy.
- Calm, professional demeanor with clients and staff in stressful situations.
- Genuine liking for animals and their owners and for working in an animal care field.
