Overview

Under the direction of the Technical Director, the Production Technician is responsible for operating audio, lighting, and video production equipment in various venues, including the theater, classrooms, and event spaces. This role ensures the technical aspects of Arts Bonita’s programs and events are executed efficiently and professionally, contributing to exceptional experiences for patrons, performers, and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Pre-Production & Event Support: Collaborate with the Technical Director to prepare for and execute events with the highest quality standards.
  • Pre-Production & Event Support: Set up and operate audiovisual equipment for performances, classes, workshops, and events.
  • Pre-Production & Event Support: Be part of the stagehand crew, secure schedule, and coordinate additional stagehands for larger productions.
  • Technical Operations: Operate and troubleshoot lighting, audio, and video systems during events.
  • Technical Operations: Perform signal testing, ensure proper connections, and resolve equipment malfunctions under pressure.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain, clean, and organize technical equipment, reporting any damages or required repairs to the Technical Director.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Conduct minor repairs on electronic equipment as needed.
  • Safety and Compliance: Follow safety protocols and alert the Technical Director to any potential hazards.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety standards in all production operations.
  • Inventory & Organization: Maintain an accurate inventory of all production equipment and ensure orderly storage.
  • Inventory & Organization: Collaborate with facilities staff to adapt to changing audiovisual needs during events.
  • Event Execution: Provide on-site technical support to ensure seamless event execution.
  • Event Execution: Stay current with advancements in production technology to implement innovative solutions.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or associate degree with at least two years of experience in live production for events such as lectures, performances, or tele-/videoconferencing.
  • Proven expertise in theatrical lighting, staging, and audiovisual systems used in the performing arts (dance, music, and theater).
  • Advanced proficiency in operating and troubleshooting film, video, streaming media equipment, and computer systems (PC and Mac).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work with diverse teams, performers, and clients.
  • Strong multitasking abilities and the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
  • Knowledge of safety standards related to production and event support.

Physical Demands

Ability to lift and move up to 20 pounds.

Work Environment

Occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions and outdoor weather. Moderate noise levels during performances and events.
