Overview

Position: Production Supervisor. The Production Supervisor will drive production/manufacturing results through ownership and accountability; ensure budgeted performance is reached on all lines; meet line performance objectives including changeover objectives; maintain washouts to required timelines; limit downtime. This role works with maintenance to ensure appropriate operations/maintenance handshakes, PM program adherence, training/knowledge sharing; communicate and redirect maintenance efforts to meet quality and productivity goals. Develop and implement systems to improve production efficiencies that are sustainable and repeatable.

Responsibilities

  • Constantly focus on improving line performance, limit downtime, and improve changeover time on all lines. Ensure mechanical knowledge is communicated to all techs and operators as needed.
  • Develop and deliver effective briefs, reports, and meetings. Attend inter-department meetings to coordinate plans, complete safety items, cross-train employees, ensure GMP and SQF compliance, verify QC checks on running product, verify line checks are performed, and conduct visual observation of running product.
  • Understand short-term and long-range goals for production and how they tie to the production plan.
  • Continual monitoring and updating of SOPs as needed.
  • Plan and execute line startups, ensure cleaning on all equipment is maintained, plan new product runs effectively.
  • Implement the Production Department training matrix to maintain an accurate record of employees in need of training. Document expert knowledge and develop training programs. Track effectiveness of training through weekly evaluations. Certify employees have completed training and are fully qualified, with periodic validation.
  • Lead shift debriefs to communicate information for the business flow.
  • Lead on projects including capital improvements on production lines and support systems, new product runs, packaging or container changes, consumer complaint investigations, line issue investigations (Six Sigma tools).
  • Attend safety meetings and lead process improvement teams to generate ideas for line efficiencies.
  • Develop plant operations knowledge of main support systems and essential equipment, and understand impact of problems.
  • Communicate clearly with the team on expectations and monitor performance; address inefficiencies through coaching or formal action if required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in an engineering-related field (or equivalent experience) plus four (4) years of experience in a production and/or engineering environment.
  • Strong leadership capabilities in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Previous experience in the food/beverage manufacturing industry preferred.

Position-Specific Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Windows, Excel, Outlook) with the ability to learn new applications.
  • Understanding of operational electrical and mechanical systems; troubleshooting and Lean Manufacturing experience.
  • Understanding of SQF and responsibility for Food Safety/Food Quality; take action when Food Safety or Food Quality issues are identified.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in an organized, detailed manner with limited time frames.
  • Flexibility to work alternate shifts if production needs require.

Physical Demands

  • Physical: Continuously standing or walking.
  • Visual/Sensory: Regular need to use one or two senses at a time.
  • Work Environment: Repetitive work in a manufacturing setting.
  • Climate: Ability to work in ambient hot and/or cold seasonal environments.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Range: $70k - $92k annually, plus eligibility for performance-based bonuses based on company objectives.

Shift: 6am - 3pm. The candidate will be subject to a 12-hour continental shift, but initially will work 5, 8-hour days for approximately one month. After that, will transition to continental schedule with day (5am-5pm) and night (5pm-5am) coverage rotating quarterly.
