Office Manager — Berns Landscaping (Warren, MI)

We’re looking for a highly organized and experienced Office Manager to keep our busy Warren office running smoothly. If you love creating order out of chaos, improving systems, and supporting a team that works hard and celebrates together, this could be the perfect fit.

What You’ll Do

  • Oversee and run daily administrative operations with confidence and care

  • Manage accounts payable, including vendor bills, purchase receipts, and expense tracking

  • Overseeaccounts receivable collections to ensure timely and accurate client payments

  • Use QuickBooks and internal systems to support business operations

  • Assist with invoicing and payroll functions

  • Manage insurance documentation, including workers’ compensation and general liability policies, and ensure timely renewals and compliance

  • Maintain accurate subcontractor records, including certificates of insurance and required documentation

  • Coordinate and manage compliance for our H-2B seasonal labor program

  • Onboard new employees and maintain accurate HR files and documentation

  • Support benefit enrollment and employee communications

  • Handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism

  • Create and improve processes to keep things efficient and well-documented

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with staff, vendors, and clients—strong communication is a must

  • Collaborate with leadership on reporting, scheduling, and special projects

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked office environment

What We’re Looking For

This is a senior office role. Please apply only if you have real, hands-on experience in office management and HR administration.

  • 3–5+ years of proven success in office management and HR administration (required)

  • Solid experience with accounts payable, purchase receipts, and AR collections

  • Hands-on experience handling insurance compliance, including workers’ comp and general liability

  • Proven ability to maintain accurate records and proper documentation for subcontractors

  • Proficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills—you must be able to clearly convey information, set expectations, and follow up professionally

  • Experience onboarding employees and maintaining HR records

  • Excellent organizational, time-management, and multitasking abilities

  • A professional, pleasant demeanor with a customer-first mindset

  • Willingness and ability to learn new systems and improve workflows

  • Experience in landscaping, construction, or service industries is a plus

If you have not managed an office team and HR functions—including payables, purchase receipts, AR collections, insurance administration, and subcontractor documentation—this position is not the right match.

What We Offer

  • Starting pay $60,000 + (depending on experience)

  • Weekly pay

  • Health care is availablewith up to $500/month employer contribution (after 60 days)

  • Up to 4 weeks of paid time off
