General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area at all times, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may be required to perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require and may be asked to perform additional tasks to achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in all duties.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps egress clear and promptly reports unsafe conditions.
  • Treats all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; is friendly and professional at all times; recognizes fellow Associates using Company recognition programs.
  • Assists Customers as needed—is register-trained, helps with merchandise, and answers Customer questions politely and knowledgeably. Greets Customers with eye contact, a smile, and a greeting; expresses thanks during transactions.
  • Responds promptly to Customer Service requests; handles issues courteously and with helpfulness, involving Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, and disinfecting high-touch areas to maintain store cleanliness and presentation.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company dress code.
  • Performs daily sizing and recovery to ensure a neat, clean, and well-merchandised store.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandises items per monthly guidelines and brand familiarity within departments to assist Customers.
  • Understands the Loss Prevention Awareness program and merchandise protection standards.
  • Safeguards confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise.
  • Follows MOS policies and proper processing of disposals after review by Store Leadership.
  • Follows all policies concerning transactions, including cash, checks, charge cards, refunds, voids, and offline procedures with accuracy.
  • Demonstrates urgency to perform duties efficiently and to maximize productivity while following store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effective communication with Customers, Associates, and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements / ADA

  • Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PC as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store for up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop; ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
  • Stockroom assignments may require lifting more than 20 pounds.
