General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company standards, keeps a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may perform a range of tasks in all areas of the Store as business needs require and may be assigned additional tasks to achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

• Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
• Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps egress clear and reports unsafe conditions.
• Treats Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; friendly and professional at all times; recognizes fellow Associates using company programs.
• Assists Customers as needed; is register-trained, helps with merchandise, answers questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner; greets Customers and thanks them at the register.
• Provides prompt and efficient responses to Customer inquiries and calls; handles issues courteously and consults Store Leadership when needed.
• Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
• Performs cleaning tasks and replenishes supplies to maintain merchandise, customer, and Team areas.
• Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the dress code.
• Performs daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat and merchandised to standards.
• Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and presents items per guidelines, maintaining brand familiarity to assist Customers.
• Understands loss prevention and merchandise protection standards.
• Demonstrates integrity and safeguards confidential information, cash, credit, and merchandise.
• Follows MOS policies and handles disposals with Store Leadership review.
• Follows cash, check, charge card, refunds, voids, and offline procedures; maintains accuracy with tenders.
• Demonstrates urgency to maximize productivity and minimize steps in workflow.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

• Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements/Ada

• Ability to use Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
• Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store up to 100% of working time.
• Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
• Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
• Ability to use janitorial equipment and ladders; additional qualifications may apply.
