Founded in 1852, GSC is a member of the University System of Georgia. The college has a distinctive legacy of excellent scholarship and service. Job Summary

This position is responsible for maintenance and repair of college vehicles and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Performs regular and routine preventative maintenance on campus fleet vehicles.
  • Repairs vehicle and equipment defects and replaces worn or malfunctioning parts.
  • Performs regular maintenance on grounds keeping equipment and golf carts.
  • Repairs grounds keeping equipment and golf carts.
  • Prepares fleet vehicles for use; washes and details vehicles.
  • Welds and fabricates parts.
  • Maintains preventive maintenance records for each vehicle.
  • Maintains gas and diesel records and notifies proper personnel when gas or diesel stores are low.
  • Maintains campus door locks and manages key inventory.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one year.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

  • Knowledge of mechanical diagnosis and repair principles.

  • Skill in decision making and problem solving.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
