Job Details – PICU RN Locum Tenens

• Location: Fort Wayne, Indiana 46845
• Healthcare Setting: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) & Pediatric Unit
• Position Type: Locum Tenens / Travel Nursing Contract
• Start Date: October 6, 2025
• End Date: February 23, 2026
• Contract Duration: 20 weeks
• Shifts: 3 shifts/week, 12-hour days
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Unit Size: Pediatrics – 28 beds; PICU – 7 beds
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: Pediatrics 1:4; PICU 1:2
• Dress Code: Caribbean blue scrubs

Qualifications – PICU RN

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana or compact state (required)
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in both Pediatrics and PICU (required)
• Experience in a Level 2 Trauma Center and 400+ bed hospital (preferred)
• Proficient with EPIC electronic charting system
• IV therapy skills preferred
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification through AHA (required)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification through AHA (required)

Key Responsibilities – Pediatric Critical Care Nurse

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to pediatric patients (ages 3 days to 18 years)
• Manage a variety of pediatric conditions including trauma, respiratory illnesses, RSV, COVID-positive cases, surgical cases, birth defects, seizures, poisoning, and organ donation
• Float to NICU and other pediatric units as needed
• Utilize EPIC for computerized charting and Pyxis for medication administration
• Participate in unit-specific training and orientation, including 24 hours with a preceptor
