The Technical Maintenance position within Kimball Electronics Group is a service and repair provider for production equipment. This equipment includes machines used to manufacture surface mount and through hole printed circuit boards; and associated equipment to test PCBs after manufacture.

Organizationally, the Technical Maintenance is placed within the Manufacturing Engineering branch of engineering, working under the Technical Maintenance Manager. Functionally, the Maintenance Technician maintains the equipment and responds to trouble calls. This groups’ primary focus is to maximize equipment up-time.

A Technical Maintenance working within the Technical Maintenance Group executes a variety of tasks. Tasks include:

  • Test Fixture fabrication / Modification
  • Maintenance and repair to equipment
  • Calibration and Validation of equipment
  • Error proofing
  • Reading Schematics and test specifications
  • Coordinating service and upgrades
  • Training operators
  • Purchasing and maintaining spare parts inventory
  • Create work instructions

A successful Maintenance Technician is a self-motivated individual with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, is able to troubleshoot/repair electronic/mechanical issues and provide detail documentation to the repair. Additionally, a strong background in computer technology is a must.

Basic Requirements:

  • Successfully Interview with relevant hiring team
  • Successfully pass pre-employment drug test
  • AS degree in Electronics, and/or 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing/maintenance

Key Performance Objectives

Week 1:

  • Complete required HR, Safety, Quality, RoHS, and Benefits Orientation
  • Complete IPC 6.10 Training and pass post training assessment
  • Able to clock in and out of time keeping system
  • Comply and have a thorough understanding of ESD controls and safe guards
  • Open and close work request in Engineering SharePoint sites
  • Understand location of in-shop tools and materials
  • Utilize email

Week 2 –6 months

  • Maintain attendance record with less than a 2% absenteeism rate
  • Demonstrate clear, concise and non-offensive verbal communication
  • Demonstrate safe and consistent utilization of equipment and applicable safety guards
  • Complete Lock out / Tag out training
  • Keep personal data up to date and accurate in ESS
  • Understand 5S and suggest improvements
  • Thorough understanding of drives and storage locations within the company’s network
  • Demonstrate the ability to self-manage a project and push to closure
  • Demonstrate the ability to respond to calls and address root cause
  • Understand and utilize project team listing to establish key contacts
  • Communicate with customers and relevant team members to insure maximum understanding of equipment issues
  • (i.e. safety concerns, failure modes, maintenance needs, ergonomics, etc.)

6 months +

  • Navigate and retrieve all necessary product specs and schematics from network locations
  • Follow all employee handbook practices and policies
  • Able to relate activities to vision and guiding principles
  • Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot pneumatics and electromechanical devices
  • Sustain a less than 2% absenteeism rate
  • Promote 5S and improve audit scores
  • Sustain an injury free record
  • Gain a thorough understanding of FDA certification and its associated product requirements
  • Generate purchase order requisitions for materials and supplies
  • Able to input and update equipment in relevant SharePoint sites
  • Integrate improvement ideas to make the technical shop a “Show Case” area of functional support
  • Establish and maintain a good working relationship with engineers and operators
