Position Title:

Director of Federal Programs / Elementary Curriculum

Department/Site: Central Office

Qualifications: • Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Educational Leadership, or relatedfield. • Valid administrative certification/license. • Minimum of 5 years of experience in educational leadership, including curriculum developmentand federal program management. • Knowledge of PreK–5 instructional practices, intervention systems, and accountabilityrequirements. • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage complex projects, and communicate effectively withdiverse stakeholders. • Experience with data-driven decision-making and continuous school improvement planning.

Supervises: Instructional Coaches, MTSS Administrators

Reports to: Superintendent

Job Goal: The Director of Federal Programs/Elementary Curriculum is a strategic instructionalleader responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and evaluation of all academicprograms across the district. This includes ensuring alignment of PreK–5 curricula with statestandards, leading intervention support systems, and managing all ESEA (ESSA) federal programs tomaximize student achievement and equity. The Director works closely with school leaders,instructional staff, and district administration to build a coherent, data-driven academicframework that supports the success of every student.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities: Such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned, including but not limited to:

Curriculum and Instruction • Provide leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of a vertically andhorizontally aligned PreK–5 curricula. • Ensure curriculum is standards-based, culturally responsive, and meets the diverse needs oflearners. • Monitor and support the implementation of instructional best practices through coaching,mentoring, PD, and classroom observation. • Lead curriculum review cycles and resource adoption processes.

Intervention and Student Support • Oversee the design and implementation of academic intervention programs (MTSS, RTI, etc.) forstruggling learners. • Analyze district-wide data to identify achievement gaps and direct responsive interventions. • Collaborate with student services and special education to ensure inclusive supports for alllearners. • Support school teams in developing and monitoring intervention plans.

Created: April 2025 Federal Programs Oversight • Serve as the district coordinator for all federal education programs (e.g., Title I, II, III,and IV), including Title I, 1003 School improvement and discretionary/competitive program grans asdetermined by the district and Mississippi Department of Education. • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including reporting, documentation, andfiscal accountability. • Coordinate the development of grant applications and monitor use of federal funds. • Conduct needs assessments and stakeholder input processes as required for program planning.

Professional Development • Design and implement a comprehensive professional learning program aligned with districtgoals and instructional priorities. • Provide leadership and support for teacher and administrator capacity-building in curriculum,assessment, and instructional leadership. • Partner with outside agencies, consultants, and higher education institutions as needed forspecialized professional development.

Assessment and Data Analysis • Support the use of formative, benchmark, and summative assessments to drive instructionaldecisions. • Work with district and school teams to interpret data and set improvement targets. • Monitor student achievement trends and lead initiatives to improve academic outcomes.

Leadership and Collaboration • Serve as a key member of the district’s leadership team, contributing to strategic planningand academic vision. • Build collaborative relationships with principals, instructional coaches, teachers, andcommunity stakeholders. • Represent the district at state, and regional, and national meetings related to academicaffairs and federal programs.

Terms of Employment: 235 days annually with salary to be established by the Board of Trustees

Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated annually by the Superintendent in accordance with provision of Board policy.
