Job Title - Community Based Safety Specialist Compensation - $28.85 DOE Location - Seattle Clinic - Treatment in Motion Schedule - Monday - Saturdays 4:30am - 2pm (Variable hours, rotating Saturdays) Work at Evergreen Treatment Services and make a difference in our community! Responsibilities
The Community Based Safety Specialist is responsible for the safety of the Mobile Medication Unit (MMU) and ETS/REACH staff. This position oversees safety and client engagement while out in the community and is responsible for safely transporting staff to and from the Treatment in Motion (TIM) location. Oversees safety and client engagement while out in the community and fosters relationships and community building by providing patient-centered services from a harm reduction perspective using motivational interviewing, therapeutic verbal de-escalation, and trauma-informed care approaches. Develops professional rapport with patients through respectful, person-centered engagement practices. Orients new patients to the remote TIM location and patient flow in and out of the space while maintaining a hospitable and friendly demeanor. Monitors patients’ activities near the remote treatment location to address potential safety risks or violations of program rules and regulations. Submits incident reports or other relevant documentation as appropriate and monitors and reports hazardous materials and conditions. Works in collaboration with Counselors and Case Managers to support individual service plans for patients with challenging behaviors. Maintains strict patient confidentiality and safeguards sensitive security-related information, including logs and reports. Conducts twice-daily safety inspections of the mobile treatment unit and monitors security cameras and control systems. Performs routine maintenance for the mobile treatment vehicle (e.g., gray water system, tire pressure, fluid levels, fuel). Assists with receiving and stocking supplies for the mobile treatment unit. Assists emergency services in response to the remote treatment location and responds to all mobile treatment facility alarm activations. Supports patients with behavioral issues in a highly stimulating urban environment and attends required meetings. Qualifications
What you bring to this role – Education and/or Relevant and Lived Experience High School graduation or equivalent Undergraduate degree desirable, preferably in social services. SUDP/SUDPT a plus. Previous experience in a safety-related role, especially with individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Possession of a valid driver's license. Knowledge and Skills Understanding of racial justice and social equity and a commitment to creating an equitable environment for ETS clients, patients, and staff. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, patients, and staff from diverse backgrounds. Customer service experience and/or training. Experience driving a truck, van, or RV in urban environments with heavy traffic is highly desirable. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize, work independently, and complete tasks timely. Dependable, able to work under pressure, adaptable to change, and collaborative problem solving. Flexible team player with attention to detail. Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion with sensitive information. Ability to set boundaries, resolve conflicts and de-escalate issues. Computer literate with basics of Microsoft Office Suite or Google Workspace; able to use email, calendars, collaboration tools, and search engines. Physical Requirements
The employee is regularly required to sit, use hands, reach, talk or hear; may stand, walk, and kneel; occasionally climb, balance, or stoop; rarely crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close, color, and peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.
