Overview
SVP, Software Development Lead/Manager (Hybrid) at Citi. The role is a mid-management position responsible for achieving results through managing a team or department to establish and implement new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology Team. The objective is to drive technological innovation within the organization. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring deep technical expertise, strong management skills, and a passion for building cutting-edge solutions. The ideal candidate will guide architectural decisions, foster a collaborative development environment, and ensure delivery of high-quality, scalable, and secure applications.
Responsibilities
Be a hands-on technology leader with strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot, Microservices, OpenShift, AWS or other cloud platforms, databases (SQL/NoSQL), and CI/CD pipelines.
Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
Manage code repositories and branching strategies using Bitbucket and GitHub.
Champion code quality initiatives, including static code analysis, unit testing, and integration testing.
Design and implement system, application, and integration architectures.
Articulate technology roadmaps and budgets and justify decisions to stakeholders.
Manage a team of developers, providing coaching, performance feedback, and career development opportunities.
Provide strategic influence and manage resources, budget, and planning while monitoring results.
Apply deep knowledge of development concepts with awareness of other areas to resolve issues.
Contribute to standards and essential procedures and align development with the broader technology function.
Offer evaluative judgment in complex, dynamic situations using internal and external sources.
Influence and negotiate with senior leaders across functions and communicate with external parties as needed.
Assess risk in business decisions, safeguard Citi’s reputation and assets, ensure compliance with laws and policies, and escalate/control issues with accountability.
Qualifications
10+ years of software development experience, with a focus on Java technologies.
5+ years in a leadership role, managing a team of developers.
Proven track record designing and implementing complex, scalable systems.
Experience with GenAI projects is a plus.
Trade finance banking knowledge is a plus.
Experience managing global technology teams.
Working knowledge of industry practices and standards.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Education
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Master’s degree preferred
