Overview
Goodwill of Central Iowa is looking for a Retail Store Manager to lead donated-goods retail employees with our values of love, kindness, and respect. Base pay range: $43,000.00/yr - $53,000.00/yr. This range is provided by Goodwill of Central Iowa. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more. Responsibilities
Lead, train, and develop store employees using in-person, online, and written processes. Provide regular work performance feedback aligned with GCI values of love, kindness, and respect. Manage the team and store processes to meet sales and production goals monthly, quarterly, and annually. Lead store communication through team meetings, one-on-one conversations, electronic communications, and posted materials. Partner with Marketing, Human Resources, Finance, and Mission departments on initiatives and process improvements. Support the Mission department and activities through the round-up program and Mission goals. Provide excellent customer service and respond promptly to customer needs. Lead donated goods retail (DGR) processes of sorting, pricing, and rotating merchandise to meet production and sales goals. Collaborate with the District Manager and Safety & Loss Control Specialist on safety processes and training. Utilize technology (Microsoft Office, POS, HRIS, cash register system, camera system) to communicate, monitor, and track store and employee activities. Analyze expenses, production, and sales to achieve revenue goals; participate in monthly financial calls and complete KPI reports; oversee timekeeping and bi-weekly payroll actions. Complete and submit reports; manage HRIS actions, timekeeping, payroll data, training progress in LMS, and help employees access records and training. Maintain appearance standards including store cleanliness, fixtures, signage, and parking lot area. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. Experience successfully leading, developing, and coaching employee performance. Ability to use resources to make decisions aligned with business goals. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and monitor work. Flexibility and adaptability to change. Financial literacy, including expense and records management, store budget, and payroll budgeting; ability to pull and analyze reporting data to inform decisions. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Reliable transportation with valid Iowa Driver’s License, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance meeting minimum coverage. Ability to pass a criminal background check and dependent adult/child abuse background checks. High school diploma or equivalent; combination of military service, education, or related full-time employment acceptable; minimum 4 years of related experience; at least 18 months of related full-time paid employment including 12 months of management experience. Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR certification. Flexible schedule including days, evenings, and weekends to support business needs. Benefits
Base pay plus monthly bonus opportunity; base pay range ($43k–$53k) with potential for bonuses based on experience and performance.
