Construction Management Business Class Director (Water Business Group)

Overview
Construction Management Business Class Director (Water Business Group) at HDR. The primary duty is to provide strategic national focus positioning HDR as a preferred provider for construction services in the water infrastructure industry. Lead CM business development, project delivery and group leadership/communications; capture and codify best practices, tools, templates, protocol, and other intelligence to sustain successful Construction Management delivery across the Business Group. Reports to WBG Service Delivery Director. Responsibilities
Business Development:
Maintain market intelligence regarding industry competition, potential partners, acquisitions and/or new hires. Capture HDR and competition SOQs, proposals, presentations, scopes of work with associated fees. Ensure regions maintain CM pursuit target lists and Client Maintenance plans relevant to CM delivery. Support capture planning efforts, preproposal visitations, qualifications and proposal preparation to formalize HDR CM business development and client interaction. Provide marketing support on all pursuits to elevate HDR’s selection hit rate. Maintain List of Major CM or PM/CM or OA/CM Projects. Maintain Tool Kit, related SharePoint sites and promote best practices/tools across the Business Group. Implement Presentation/Interview training workshops for all Senior Construction Managers. Project Delivery:
Capture/disseminate relevant CM delivery lessons learned; use HDR best practices, procedures, templates and protocol for consistent CM delivery coast to coast. Collaborate with other Directors on delivery of existing projects and long-term tactical plans for water construction services. Provide principal level project management and issue resolution when needed. Track and trend actual project delivery costs against budget; incorporate lessons learned into future scope/fee development. Maintain CM/CI resources and provide resource planning across the Business Group. Lead PARR reviews, train staff to be Lead Reviewers, and participate in reviews as needed. Perform project site audits to ensure proper CM protocol and address performance with the Owner. Promote and manage HDR tools (RAKEN Field Reporting App, Newforma CA) and update related guidelines; coordinate licenses and resources as needed. Serve as WBG point of contact on CMIS questions; update HDR Construction Management Manual, procedures, forms and field checklists; ensure access across the Business Group. Leadership and Communications:
Reinvigorate CM Practice Community with regular calls and sharing wins and lessons learned. Collaborate with Field Services Communications Director and other leaders; participate in Field Services Steering Committee. Lead CMAA engagement; represent HDR as a CMAA member and board member. Manage CMAA dues, sponsorships, and project nominations; track CCM designation opportunities within HDR. Develop staff through CM training plans and sessions. Qualifications
Preferred:
Bachelors in Construction Management or Engineering with 15+ years in managing construction delivery programs for the water infrastructure industry; PE or related certifications desirable. Location: US HDR offices. Required:
Bachelor’s degree in professional discipline (Engineering, Architecture or related); 10+ years of experience; professional registration; experience in development and management of diverse teams; collaborative with other leaders; commitment to quality, HDR values, and employee-owned culture.
