Overview
Construction Management Business Class Director (Water Business Group) at HDR. The role provides strategic national focus on positioning HDR as a preferred provider for construction services in the water infrastructure industry. The Director leads CM business development, project delivery, and group leadership/communications, codifies best practices, tools, templates, and protocols to sustain successful Construction Management delivery across the entire Business Group. This position reports to the WBG Service Delivery Director. Responsibilities
Business Development: Maintain market intelligence regarding industry competition, potential partners, acquisitions and/or new hires. Capture HDR and competition SOQs, proposals, presentations, scopes of work with associated fees. Ensure all regions maintain CM pursuit target lists and Client Maintenance plans relevant to CM delivery. Support capture planning efforts, preproposal visitations, qualifications and proposal preparation to promote a formulaic approach to HDR CM business development and client interaction. Provide marketing support on all pursuits to elevate HDR’s selection hit rate. Maintain List of Major CM or PM/CM or OA/CM Projects. Maintain tool kit, related SharePoint sites, and promote best practices/tools across the Business Group. Implement presentation/interview training workshops for all Senior Construction Managers. Project Delivery: Capture/disseminate CM delivery lessons learned; ensure use of HDR best practices, procedures, templates and protocols for consistent CM delivery coast to coast. Collaborate with other BCG Directors on delivery of existing projects and long-term tactical plans for the water construction services program. Provide principal-level project management and issue resolution. Track/trend actual project delivery costs against budget and incorporate lessons learned into future scope/fee development. Maintain list of CM/CI resources and provide CM resource planning across the Business Group. Lead PARR reviews, train staff to be Lead Reviewers, and participate as needed. Perform site audits to ensure proper CM protocol and address performance with the Owner. Promote the use of RAKEN Field Reporting App; update HDR Technical Guidelines; manage license renewals and resource allocation. Promote and administer use of Newforma Construction Administration (Newforma CA) for workflows and dashboards; coordinate with stakeholders. Serve as the WBG contact for CMIS questions. Update and maintain the HDR Construction Management Manual, CM Procedures/Forms & Field Checklists; ensure CM access/use across the Business Group. Leadership and Communications: Reinvigorate the CM Practice Community with regular calls and broadcasts of wins and lessons learned. Collaborate with Field Services teams and participate in Field Services Steering Committee. Lead CMAA engagement and represent HDR as a CMAA member; coordinate dues, conference sponsorships, and project nominations; maintain CCM designation awareness among HDR employees. Ensure staff development with CM training plans and sessions. Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Engineering with 15+ years of experience managing construction delivery programs for the water infrastructure industry. PE or related professional certifications desirable. This position can be located in any US HDR office. Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field; minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; professional or Engineering registration; experience in development and management of diverse teams; ability to collaborate with other business class directors, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers; commitment to quality and HDR values; active participation in HDR’s employee-owned culture.
