Overview
Structural Engineer - Senior-Level role at Sargent & Lundy. Hybrid work schedule and in-office work 3 days per week. Responsibilities
Apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design on industrial, power, oil and gas facilities as part of an engineering and design team. Create calculations, document designs, and specifications; conduct structural analyses including loading conditions such as wind, seismic, blast, and pressurization. Guide junior engineers and designers in structural engineering design efforts, coordinating detailed design phases for all aspects of structural work. Work on challenging assignments that involve investigating, troubleshooting, and solving a wide variety of structural engineering issues. Develop integrated structural designs and supporting calculations; prepare technical specifications for structural materials. Perform independent reviews of work performed by others, including calculations and drawing preparation. Coordinate and provide guidance to other engineers, project managers, client personnel, and suppliers to ensure a complete and timely design. Review existing facilities to propose upgrades and replacements, and present findings and recommendations to clients and peers. Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs (as needed). Qualifications – Essential Skills and Experience
BSCE (MSCE preferred) from an ABET-accredited program. Six or more years of experience in a project team environment designing industrial, power, oil and gas facilities, with focus on steel structures and concrete foundations and supports. Experience writing and supporting Structural Engineering calculations. Practical knowledge of structural engineering applications, including analysis for supports, loads, and design integrity. Proficiency with MathCad, STAAD PRO, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS. Familiarity with design codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318. Proficiency with MS Office. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Occasional travel may be required. PE License is required. Qualifications – Valued But Not Required
