This position is responsible for CNC programming of new products, from feasibility through prototype and into production. The role also provides input into quotes and quote reviews regarding projected machine cycle times, processes, work holding, and tooling. Responsibilities
Develop, create, and maintain CNC and control programs for numerically controlled machines using CAD/CAM software. Develop fixtures and machine processes in collaboration with engineering. Serve as a liaison between engineering and machining operations, providing extensive technical knowledge. Analyze and implement process improvements to reduce process variation and improve productivity in machining operations. Control and maintain CNC control programs and processes for CNC machines. Revise programs to eliminate errors and retest to confirm problems are solved. Program all CNC machines (Mills, Lathes, Swiss, EDM). Provide technical support for ongoing manufacturing operations and continuous improvement programs. Participate in New Product Introduction and Engineering Change Notices, and review resources, equipment, processes, capacity, measurements, and costs related to product manufacturing. Perform cost analysis for tooling, machinery, and equipment to support new or improved manufacturing methods. Represent Engineering on cross-functional teams as needed. Identify and coordinate opportunities to reduce manufacturing setup time, cycle time, labor hours, and WIP. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Minimum 7 years of related CNC programming experience. Proficient and advanced skill using CAD/CAM software. Advanced knowledge of CNC machines and tooling. Advanced knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in producing precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. Ability to interpret and use engineering design drawings and technical specifications. Ability to develop and design machining processes, procedures, and control techniques from customer design inception to final production. Strong knowledge and operation of metrology gauges, instruments, and equipment, including selection based on feature characteristics to be measured, tolerances, and instrument resolution/capability. Knowledge of statistical process control methods, data and defect analysis, variance reduction, and capability analysis; understanding of Process FMEAs and control plans. Strong organizational and project management skills. Experience with capacity planning, equipment selection, and application of cell configurations. Attention to data, detail, and thoroughness in completing tasks. Proficiency in English (reading, writing, oral communication, and comprehension). Knowledge of industrial math; proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and CAD/CAM. Strong interpersonal skills. This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All employees must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee.
