You will lead the development and execution of grid transformation strategies that modernize how we plan, build, and operate the electric grid. You will shape the future of energy delivery by integrating advanced technologies including AI, driving cross-functional innovation, and enabling scalable solutions that support California’s clean energy goals. As a Senior Engineer 1, your work will help power the planet, reduce carbon emissions, and create cleaner air for everyone. Responsibilities
Oversees engineers performing diagnostics, monitoring and inspecting equipment, and reviewing grid technologies, building relationships to facilitate cross-functional knowledge transfer of related work groups Leads the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and other documentation to communicate project status, findings, and recommendations to stakeholders Collaborates and leads with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless development, integration and implementation of future technologies and asset performance management strategies Assists in a variety of engineering and business initiatives and grid strategies, including development of innovative procedures and design recommendations Provides support for new equipment installation and startup, then leads the hand over processes to the ramp and sustaining phases Leads junior engineers in the investigation of threats on the distribution system infrastructure based on observations and findings Gathers and correlates basic data using engineering studies and procedures, which may include routine and diagnostic testing of components and systems Facilitates training and professional development opportunities for engineering team members to enhance their skills and knowledge Protects and manages physical, financial and cybersecurity assets and customer data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical/scientific field Seven or more years of experience performing engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments Valid Class C Driver's License Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related discipline Experience leading grid modernization and digitalization initiatives Extensive experience with full lifecycle of capital projects, with understanding of utility standards, stakeholder coordination, and regulatory compliance Ability to develop and execute enterprise-level roadmaps aligned with long-term grid transformation strategies and clean energy goals Experience leading cross-functional teams and collaborating with internal stakeholders and external partners Excellent oral and written communication skills to explain complex concepts and deliver technical presentations Ability to work in ambiguous environments, self-starter mindset, and commitment to ongoing learning Strong ethics, influence, leadership, interpersonal skills, and ability to manage stress Additional Information
