Regulatory Analyst

to join their growing organization! Client/Industry : Electric Power & Energy Job Title : Regulatory Analyst/Auditor II Location : 100% Onsite | New Orleans, LA 70195 Work Schedule/Shift : Mon-Fri 8am – 5pm | Minimum 40 work hours per week. Duration/Length of Assignment : 9 Month Contract to Hire Pay Rate : $42.35 per hour *Must be able to convert to a full-time employee without sponsorship, restrictions, or an additional employer* W2 Employment Only – No Corp to Corp / C2C arrangements. Expected potential for contract extension(s) and/or conversion to Full-Time/Permanent Employment. Optional benefits available during contract (Medical, Dental, Vision, and 401k). Position Overview : This position supports regulatory and financial operations within the utilities sector. The Auditor will be responsible for compiling, analyzing, and preparing data to support regulatory filings and rate administration. This role was created to strengthen compliance, financial transparency, and cost recovery efforts while ensuring alignment with jurisdictional regulatory requirements. The selected candidate will operate within a specialized team focused on rate structures, filings, and policy adherence. The team functions collaboratively and reports directly to management responsible for regulatory analysis and oversight. From a high-level perspective, the Auditor will be expected to handle quantitative and qualitative evaluations of rate schedules, participate in peer reviews, prepare filing documentation, and support tariff analysis. The individual will need to deliver accurate and detailed work that contributes to effective regulatory filings, customer rate impact analysis, and compliance with applicable guidelines. This role will require both independent initiative and team collaboration to meet deadlines and maintain operational accuracy. Required Skills/Experience/Qualifications : Bachelor’s degree in Math, Accounting, Finance, or Engineering (preferred) or equivalent work experience Minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience in regulatory, financial, or auditing functions Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and other mainframe business applications Ability to develop and maintain detailed spreadsheets for analysis and reporting Ability to perform detailed analysis and convert findings into concise, actionable summaries Excellent organizational skills, with ability to manage multiple assignments and prioritize effectively Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and business needs Strong written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to work effectively in a team environment Preferred Skills (Not Required) : MBA or CPA preferred Previous experience with regulatory filings Background in Accounting, Finance, or Mathematics beyond the minimum requirements Prior experience in the utilities industry Previous experience in research or auditing environments Day to Day/Responsibilities : Compile, analyze, and prepare data to support regulatory filings and quality assurance efforts Lead preparation of updates to rate-related documents used by other departments Perform detailed reviews and analysis of rate filing documents, supporting schedules, and work papers for accuracy and compliance Conduct quantitative analysis of rate schedules to evaluate customer bill impacts Prepare, review, and interpret tariffs and tariff calculations, including fuel, purchase power, capacity, energy efficiency costs, environmental, and securitization charges Document regulatory order filing requirements and assist with interpretation for internal teams Ensure accurate preparation of regulatory data for filing, including pro forma adjustments to historical information Perform cost-of-service allocation to support filings and determine equitable recovery rates for customers while maintaining corporate financial stability Conduct peer reviews of filings, including Formula Rate Plans (FRPs), rate cases, fuel filings, and special riders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with jurisdictional requirements Utilize Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools to create detailed spreadsheets and perform in-depth data analysis Develop meaningful summaries from analyses to support management decision-making and recommendations Participate in team collaboration, contribute to process improvements, and adapt to new processes and technologies as directed by management Maintain flexibility to perform other duties as assigned within regulatory and auditing functions Seniority level
