Structural Engineer
to join our Buildings and Places Structural Team in Chicago, IL; Schaumburg, IL; or Peoria, IL. This role follows a
hybrid work model , requiring regular attendance at the office. At GFT, the structural team creates efficient, innovative solutions for structural systems to ensure comfort and sustainability in every project. The team contributes to a resilient built environment, pushing the boundaries of building system design and performance while addressing the unique needs of each facility. Structural Engineer
who thrives in a collaborative environment. You will deliver high-quality results on various building projects with a customer-focused mindset. Responsibilities include: Perform and check structural design and analysis computations. Prepare construction plans for a wide variety of building structures. Develop contract documents such as plans, details and specifications. Review construction documents such as shop drawings or contractor requests. Perform structural observations on site for existing and new structures. Prepare summary and detailed reports with clear writing. Provide technical guidance to entry-level engineers. Perform finite element modeling. Apply expertise in steel and concrete design with attention to detail. Demonstrate broad knowledge of structural analysis and design principles, codes, technology, materials, and construction techniques. Organize and multi-task, adapting priorities based on client requests and workload. Education & Experience
What You Will Bring To Our Firm Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering or a Master’s in Architecture with emphasis on Structures is required. SE (Structural Engineer) designation preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience as a structural design engineer on building and/or transit-related projects. Familiarity with software such as RISA, ETABS, SAP2000, RAM Structural System, RAM Concept, STAAD, Mathcad, TEDDS, and/or other structural analysis/design tools. Experience with REVIT. Compensation : The salary range for this role is $90,000 – $125,000, dependent on experience and geographic location. Benefits : Hybrid (in-person and remote) work environment.
