Overview
Lead Continuous Improvement Engineer (Warehousing) role at Ryder System, Inc. We are immediately hiring a Lead Continuous Improvement Engineer (Warehousing, slotting, racking etc.) in Whitestown, IN, for our Supply Chain Solutions division. Ideal candidate will have customer facing experience in a warehouse distribution environment. Responsibilities
Collects data and performs statistical analysis. Maps and documents processes. Identifies process gaps; recommends and implements process improvement. Develops a thorough, effective, and timely continuous improvement plan to drive value for customers and executes transformation plans to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee development. Manages and completes high impact CI projects across the operation that lead to improved business results. Assesses CI initiatives and provides input on future activities. Supports start-ups, retrofits and expansions including pricing inputs, go-live and steady state certifications. Identifies and supports Automation projects. Regularly interacts with account management and/or customer(s). Demonstrates competency in engineering methods, Lean tools, and quality standards; coaches employees in CI, Quality Assurance, & Lean principles. Applies methodologies/tools such as slotting, labor standards, layouts and optimization, data profiling and analysis, and resource modeling to improve operations. May supervise CI engineering and quality professionals. With guidance of manager, participates in employment decisions and manages performance. Facilitates and executes Value Stream Maps & Kaizen Events through all stages; coaches process owners on lean methods to achieve operational excellence. Provides regular reports of data and actions to measure progress against site objectives and makes inventory and/or supply chain strategy recommendations. Additional Responsibilities
Designs, implements, monitors and maintains the Quality Management System (QMS) based on established standards. Implements and monitors a standardized corrective action system. Supports regulatory compliance and certification requirements. Performs all functions related to Quality Assurance for a start-up or expansion. Performs other duties as assigned. Skills and Abilities
Microsoft Office Suite skills with emphasis on Access, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio. Data visualization (PowerBI, Tableau) and database programming (SQL, DAX). Proficiency in Leader Standard Work, Visual Management Systems, Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA), Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, 5S/Workplace Organization. Understanding of core engineering and data analysis functions (slotting, utilization, labor planning, layouts, metrics). Warehouse design tools (CAD such as AutoCAD; slotting tools; MOST) and Warehouse Management Systems (e.g., Manhattan Scale) and Labor Management Systems. Knowledge of warehouse operations, data analytics, Lean methods, and material handling solutions and automation types (PIT, racking, packaging, conveyors, AS/RS). Knowledge of Dedicated Services and Managed Transportation Networks; familiarity with equipment types such as dry van, temperature control, flat bed, etc. Experience with Transportation Design Tools and mapping software (e.g., JDA, Tableau) is preferred. Lean Six Sigma training; additional certifications such as cPMP, ISO/QMS and APICS are preferred. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain) with seven or more years of related experience in warehousing, transportation, or manufacturing; or Master’s degree (Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or Supply Chain Management) with five years of related experience; MBA requires undergraduate engineering degree. Microsoft Office Suite skills with emphasis on Access, Excel and PowerPoint & Visio; expert level. Data visualization (PowerBI, Tableau) and database programming (SQL, DAX) intermediate.
