Midtown Family Services . Midtown Family Services provides support for low‑income individuals and families living in San Jose and surrounding communities in two program areas: financial counseling and navigation services, and reentry support for individuals returning to the community after incarceration in state prison. Volunteer opportunity: 1–2 volunteers needed per day, 1.5 to 2 hours each day, Monday through Friday, with their own vehicles, to assist Midtown staff with picking up donated food from specific grocers in West San Jose, Campbell, and Los Gatos, delivering the food to Midtown Family Services, and stocking shelves. On most days, the stocking/organization task is completed before 10:00 am. Volunteers who work on Tuesday and Friday are invited to remain to assist with distribution from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Pickup days, times, and sites vary; additional information about sites is available on request. Responsibilities Assist with picking up donated food from grocery stores in West San Jose, Los Gatos, Campbell, and nearby areas, using Midtown Family Services vehicles as needed. Deliver donated food to Midtown Family Services and stock shelves for distribution. Assist with food distribution days as able, particularly on Tuesdays and Fridays. Provide any required receipts or sign‑in documentation with the receiving clerks at partner stores. Requirements Volunteers must complete Second Harvest of Silicon Valley's online training module. Volunteers must have valid vehicle insurance and complete a liability waiver. Volunteers must be physically able to handle heavy food items (e.g., milk crates, boxed goods) as part of the duties.
