Role The Risk & Compliance team is the backbone of BILL’s trusted payment ecosystem. We are looking for a Lead Product Manager to own the onboarding experience and the risk and compliance aspects of onboarding flows. You will be the strategic owner of onboarding risk controls, balancing a frictionless user experience with robust controls in a complex regulatory landscape.

What You’ll Do

Own the Onboarding Risk Strategy: Define and drive the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for all risk and compliance controls within the customer onboarding journey, from initial sign-up to full platform access.

Build a Seamless & Secure Experience: Lead cross-functional pods to launch and iterate on features for identity verification (IDV), Know Your Customer (KYC), Know Your Business (KYB), and initial fraud screening.

Balance Speed and Safety: Track metrics related to drop-off, time-to-onboard, and risk-decision accuracy; use data-driven insights to reduce friction for good customers while strengthening defenses against bad actors.

Partner Across the Business: Collaborate with Operations, Legal, and Go-to-Market teams to ensure compliant and operationally efficient solutions that support growth.

Stay Ahead of the Curve: Understand evolving fintech regulation, fraud tactics, and identity solutions to address emerging risks and plan for the future.

Communicate with Impact: Present roadmap, decisions, and results to stakeholders and executive leadership.

What We’re Looking For

A Deep Background in Onboarding: 6+ years in product management with significant focus on risk and compliance in customer onboarding; experience with KYC and identity verification.

Fintech or Payments Risk Expertise: Hands-on experience in risk/compliance within a payments, lending, or fintech company; familiarity with regulatory requirements (e.g., BSA/AML) and fraud vectors.

Data-Driven Decision Making: Strong analytical skills and the ability to use data and user research to guide strategy.

Exceptional Collaboration: History of leading cross-functional teams and managing stakeholder relationships across Legal, Compliance, and Operations.

Problem-Solver Mindset: Ability to navigate ambiguity, break down complex problems, and deliver fast-paced solutions.

Compensation & Benefits Base pay range: $167,300/yr – $200,700/yr. The San Jose-based role has an estimated salary range noted below for our location and may vary by experience and location.
