Overview
The Medical College of Georgia, Department of Surgery at Augusta University is seeking a full-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor in our Surgical Oncology Program in Augusta, Georgia. Candidates should be board-certified in general surgery, with additional fellowship training in Breast Surgical Oncology or Complex General Surgical Oncology (CGSO), with interest in pursuing a mainly Breast Surgical Oncology practice and demonstrated success in programmatic development. Opportunities are available for research support for candidates with appropriate experience and interest. This position is not considered to be on tenure track. Responsibilities
Develop clinical practice in the field of Breast Surgery and Surgical Oncology. Enhance the Breast Surgery Program, increase clinic visits and increase surgical volumes related to breast cancer. Participate in the call schedule with the Divisions of Surgical Oncology and Minimally Invasive Surgery. Teach and educate general surgery residents about breast surgery. Required Qualifications
MD/DO degree or equivalent Candidates should be Board certified in General Surgery, Board eligible/certified in CGSO (if applying after Surgical Oncology fellowship). Successful completion of a Breast Surgical Oncology or Complex General Surgical Oncology (CGSO) Fellowship or equivalent Minimum of 0-2 years of experience Assistant Professor - Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training. Associate Professor - Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience. Professor - Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience. Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation; Evidence of ability as a teacher; Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned; Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations. This position is fiscal year based and works year-round. The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time. Salary and compensation are commensurate with education, experience, and achievements, and are subject to the availability of funds, with distinctions by rank (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor). Comprehensive benefits include medical, dental, vision, 13 paid holidays, vacation leave, sick leave, retirement plans, tuition waiver, wellness options, and more. Full-time employees employed more than 6 months may be considered for the Tuition Assistance Program.
