Supervises development and improvement of the instructional programs.
Organizes and develops a school climate that promotes adequate discipline of students, rapport with teachers, and understanding of parents to the end of an excellent learning environment.
Cooperates with all appropriate administrative personnel, teaching staff, parents, students, and others in assuring the best education for all students.
Accepts responsibility for providing the means for teachers to be successful through in-service training, counseling, and appropriate examples.
Cooperates in the process of evaluating substitute teachers.
Screens candidates and makes employment recommendations to the Director of Human Resources.
Oversees a positive public relations program with parents and community in general.
Plans and organizes the use of school facilities in the best interests of the students and the community.
Organizes the building so that a smooth operation in terms of programs, staff functioning, and student involvement is enhanced.
Organizes and administers the school within the approved policies of the Board of Education.
Maintains the safety of people involved with the school system and safeguards the buildings, furnishings, books, and apparatus contained therein from damage and insure proper care and cleanliness.
Accepts responsibility for accounting procedures in the areas of budget, all funds, monitor grants, and teacher attendance.
Oversees the supervision of attendance records and periodically reviews those records to insure that school staff members are following state requirements and reporting that data.
Complies with all state requirements regarding educational leadership and school improvement planning.
Keeps the Superintendent informed of all matters in the building that may have ramifications for the Board of Education or the district.
Becomes knowledgeable of the provisions of all collective bargaining agreements and employee handbooks to properly administer those provisions for which the principal is responsible.
Directs and insures supervision of all extra-curricular activities.
Evaluates the performance of all staff.
Completes all reports and special duties assigned by the Superintendent.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervision :
Under broad supervision, this position supervises full and part-time building staff; including but not limited to, teachers, psychologists, social workers, counselors, nurses, paraprofessionals, lunchroom employees, and custodians.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
The individual employed for this position must possess and maintain the following qualifications: Education, Experience & Certification Requirements Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in School Administration or other related educational discipline. Professional Educator License with a General Administrative Endorsement. Extensive successful teaching experience, preferably in more than one subject area and grade level. Successful experience as an Administrator in the Elementary School level preferred. State certified evaluator of teachers. Proven record of dynamic educational leadership, including excellent interpersonal and communication skills with students, staff, and parents. Demonstrated ability to work with people in a way that facilities positive growth in both students and staff. Demonstrated professionalism. Knowledge & Skills Knowledge of applicable federal and state education laws and regulations regarding education. Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles. Solid understanding of elementary curriculum and the Common Core Standards. Ability to motivate, develop, and support a high performing, high quality team and hold all accountable for improved student achievement. Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed. Ability to develop and implement projects. Possess strong technology skills (i.e., productivity software, data management software, hardware, etc.). Experience in giving professional presentations or conducting training. Knowledge of best practices in administration, program evaluation, and staff supervision. Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and the formulation of action plans. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read and analyze complex information. Ability to organize multiple tasks within conflicting time constraints. Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to leadership, performance, and professional growth. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work. Salary/Benefits
Salary & Benefits: Regionally competitive salary and benefits commensurate with experience. Starting pay of $80,000/per year, but actual salary and benefits will be negotiated with finalists.
