Overview

The Archdiocese of Chicago seeks a Part-Time Operations Director for Immaculate Conception & St. Michael Parish in South Chicago. The OD is a practicing Catholic who will support the Catholic Church’s teachings, mission and values, serving as the professional administrator and strategic leader at one or more parishes of the Archdiocese. This role assists the pastor with stewardship of human, financial and physical resources in accordance with Archdiocesan policies and guidelines. The OD will lead operations staff, including bookkeepers, office and maintenance staff, and collaborates with the Pastor, Principal (where applicable), and the Director of Vicariate Operations to drive positive financial and operational performance." Responsibilities

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT: Prepare, evaluate, and communicate parish (church & school) budgets, annual reports, profit & loss statements, balance sheet, accounts receivable/payable, and general ledger. Develop monthly variance reports and reforecasts; review reports with the Pastor and Principal (as applicable). Ensure proper internal controls and act as Parish representative to banks, managing accounts and resolving discrepancies. May perform bookkeeping functions including payable/receivable and other parish revenues and expenses. Oversee purchasing, contract negotiations and vendor relationships. Serve as staff liaison to Parish Finance Council; support School Board as applicable. Coordinate capital campaign pledges and collections, fundraising events, offertory, and stewardship. Use Archdiocesan best practices and ensure taxes are paid in compliance with regulations. SCHOOL SUPPORT: Develop and manage the school economic model to assess financial impact of initiatives; support the principal in budget assumptions; reforecast school finances post-enrollment season; assist Principal and Pastor in all school financial matters (tuition setting, collection, financial aid, expense tracking). BUILDINGS MANAGEMENT: Manage major repairs, renovations and capital projects per Archdiocesan policies; liaison with Archdiocesan agencies; oversee custodial maintenance; support Building Committee; manage Parish security, leasing, facility use and liaison with local government agencies. HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT: Collaborate with the Vicariate HR Manager on policies; manage salaries and benefits; oversee Parish office operations and staff performance, including annual reviews and volunteer guidelines. COMMUNICATION/INFORMATION: Direct preparation of Parish communications for the Sunday Bulletin; maintain census/database; oversee IT infrastructure; manage Parish operational and financial records. PROJECT/TEAM MANAGEMENT: Manage parish project plans, track status, communicate progress, address challenges, and facilitate weekly staff meetings; share ideas and best practices from Vicariate/Archdiocese meetings. Requirements

Must be Catholic and demonstrate understanding, respect and support of Catholic Church teachings, mission and values. Experience in Accounting, Finance, or related business disciplines. Ability to identify opportunities for improvement, evaluate issues and implement solutions. Strong proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel. Experience in Human Resources practices, including people leadership, interviewing and policy application. Ability to handle highly confidential information. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management (or related field). Preferred

Experience with not-for-profit organizations or Church management. The Archdiocese of Chicago offers a comprehensive total rewards package, including competitive compensation and benefits. The position has an annualized salary range of $34,000 - $52,000, with pay based on education, qualifications, experience, skills, location, and organizational needs.
