Overview

Operations Director - Our Lady of The Wayside - Vic. I at Archdiocese of Chicago. The OD will be a practicing Catholic, supporting Catholic Church teachings, mission and values, and will serve as the professional administrator and strategic leader at one or more parishes of the Archdiocese of Chicago. Responsibilities

Financial Management: Prepare, evaluate, and communicate parish (church & school) budgets, annual reports, profit & loss, balance sheet, accounts payable/receivable, and general ledger; develop monthly variance reports and reforecasts; ensure proper internal controls; act as parish representative to banks; manage accounts and resolve discrepancies; may perform bookkeeping; oversee purchasing, contract negotiations, and vendor relationships; liaise with Parish Finance Council and School Board as needed; coordinate capital campaign pledges and fundraising; follow Archdiocesan best practices; ensure taxes are paid in accordance with regulations. School Support: Develop and manage school economic model for financial impact of initiatives; support principal in annual budget assumptions; reforecast school finances after enrollment season; assist Principal and Pastor in school financial matters (tuition setting, collection, financial aid, expense tracking); participate in School Financial Aid Committee. Buildings Management: Manage major repairs, renovations, and capital projects; liaise with Archdiocesan administrative agencies; manage custodial maintenance; support Building Committee; handle parish security, leasing, facility use, and liaison with local government. Human Resources Management: Collaborate with Vicariate HR on policies; manage salaries and benefits; oversee Parish office operations and staff performance; conduct performance reviews; implement volunteer guidelines and policies. Communication/Information: Direct preparation of Parish communications (e.g., Sunday Bulletin); maintain Parish census and database; oversee IT and information systems; manage parish operational and financial records. Project/Team Management: Manage project plans, track status, identify challenges, and implement actions; organize weekly staff meetings; share ideas and best practices from Vicariate and Archdiocesan meetings. Qualifications

Must be Catholic and support the Catholic Church’s teaching, mission and values. Experience in Accounting, Finance, or related business practices. Ability to identify opportunities for improvement, evaluate issues, and implement solutions. Strong proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Experience in Human Resources practices, including leadership, interviewing, and policy application. Ability to handle highly confidential information. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management. Preferred

Experience with not-for-profit organizations or in church management. Salary and Benefits

The Archdiocese of Chicago offers a comprehensive rewards package, including competitive compensation and benefits. Salary range: $61,152 – $95,550 annually.
