Associate General Counsel
to provide legal support for the Firm’s Litigation group, specifically on the Practice Protection Team. This role supports the Firm’s litigation and regulatory matters with an emphasis on defending litigation claims and regulatory investigations while partnering with internal clients and outside counsel. Provide counsel on actual and threatened civil litigation where the Firm is a party, or where it is subject to regulatory or government investigations or inquiries, or in response to subpoenas or other legal processes where the Firm is not a party. Represent KPMG and its professionals in civil litigation proceedings and regulatory investigations; provide legal advice to Firm leaders on issues arising in those proceedings and investigations. Develop, implement and manage strategies and tactics to defend litigation claims and regulatory investigations toward a cost-effective resolution. Supervise and collaborate with outside counsel and other OGC members to deliver high-quality legal representation to the Firm, its professionals and leaders. Report to and consult with the Vice Chair for Legal, Risk Management and Compliance/General Counsel, the National Managing Principal for Legal and Regulatory and the Deputy General Counsel for Litigation and Investigations on issues arising in litigation and regulatory matters. Develop financial projections and ensure cost-effective management of matters. Qualifications
Minimum fifteen years of experience handling complex civil litigation and regulatory investigations in top law firms, in-house departments, or at agencies such as the SEC, PCAOB, or DOJ; experience involving accounting and auditing issues is highly preferred. JD or LLM from an accredited law school; licensed to practice law in the U.S., including the state where the office is located. Ability to manage multiple litigations and projects simultaneously, meet time-sensitive deadlines, and maintain high-quality deliverables; strong strategic thinking, ethics, integrity and professional credibility. Strong analytical, writing, oral advocacy, interpersonal, communication and client counseling skills; ability to present to senior executives (C-Suite presence). Demonstrated experience leading legal teams; experience managing outside counsel is a plus but not required. Proven collaboration skills and client-service orientation with the ability to build cross-functional relationships and interface with internal and external stakeholders on legal and business matters.
