Job Summary The Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care seeks a physician scientist, MD or MD/PhD, in medical oncology research, including bench and translational studies, genomics, precision medicine and therapeutics. The primary focus will be on mechanisms underlying the development and treatment of cancers in CNS, GU, GI, or Sarcoma. The physician scientist will be expected to engage in active collaborative research and build clinical and/or translational research in the division and obtain/maintain independent extramural funding. Clinical research is conducted in the UWCCC by 18 multi-disciplinary Disease Oriented Teams and is supported by the UWCCC Clinical Research Central Office on the main campus. Over 170 UWCCC investigators regularly enroll patients to therapeutic intervention trials at our UWCCC clinical sites. We are a member of the NCCN, ECOG- ACRIN, Alliance, BigTen Cancer Research Consortium, Wisconsin Oncology Network (WON) and Wisconsin Association of Hematology and Oncology (WAHO). The Division of Hematology/Medical Oncology & Palliative Care is part of the Department of Medicine and the NCI- designated UW Carbone Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Division is active in all phases of cancer research, from prevention, screening, cancer therapy, development and evaluation, survivorship and palliative care. Faculty and staff of the Department of Medicine value professionalism, patient-centeredness, compassion, respect, innovation, discovery, inclusion, diversity, teamwork, scholarship and stewardship. Responsibilities Duties include direct patient care, including ambulatory, inpatient and consult service; (30%) * Duties also include outreach service at approved UW Health locations, as well as inpatient call coverage. * Includes protected time, (70%) to develop a research program, develop a teaching program and to engage in scholarly activities. * Teaching medical students, residents, and fellows within the context of your clinical practice * Proactively supporting efforts regarding diversity in clinical trial participants Education Terminal degree; MD, DO or equivalent is required License/Certification ABIM - American Board of Internal Medicine Certification Required Must be Board Eligible or Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Must have completed an accredited fellowship training program in Medical Oncology. Must be eligible for a Wisconsin medical license.
