breast cancer researcher
sought to join our multi‑disciplinary breast oncology program and lead our team of investigators. UW Carbone Cancer Center and the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health seeks a physician scientist or academic clinician to join us and be the driving force for research, prevention, and treatment initiatives critical to defeating cancer in Wisconsin and around the world.
Health services or clinical trial research is desired and priority areas include genomics, precision medicine and cancer therapeutics. Interest in cellular therapy is also considered.
The successful candidate will join a world‑class institution that encourages, values, and supports interdisciplinary basic, clinical and population health research, and attracts scholars and students from around the world. Madison is the state’s capitol city with a population of over 270,000 and offers an ideal combination of natural beauty, stimulating cultural events, outstanding schools and outdoor recreation.
Opportunities exist for pursuit of clinical research in the candidate’s areas of interest. The candidate will lead dedicated disease‑specific research staff and have access to substantial programmatic research funds. Clinical research is conducted in the UWCCC by 18 multi‑disciplinary disease‑oriented teams and is supported by the UWCCC Clinical Research Office. Over 170 UWCCC investigators regularly enroll patients to therapeutic intervention trials at our two UWCCC clinical sites. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue and secure independent funding to continue/develop their research.
Responsibilities
Lead a team of investigators within the multi‑disciplinary breast oncology program.
Develop and execute research projects in genomics, precision medicine, cancer therapeutics, and cellular therapy.
Secure and manage independent funding to sustain and expand research initiatives.
Collaborate across campus and statewide with clinical and research partners.
Qualifications
Physician scientist or academic clinician with a strong background in breast cancer research.
Experience in health services or clinical trial research preferred.
Strong track record of securing independent research funding.
Athletic interest and ability to work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.
